Spirit Guides

We all have spirit guides. They are with us from the moment we are born into this life. They are there to guide and protect us and lend us aid.
Spirit guides often come in the form of animals (power animals). These can be common animals, like dog or bear, or mythical ones, like dragon or phoenix.

We also have spiritual teachers, who reside in the upper realm and also are there to guide us on our path. These teachers can be anyone, from someone you've never heard of before, to those more well-known, like Jesus Christ or Buddha.

Spirit guides and teachers do change, but this is only after you've learned what they have to teach and are ready to move on. When this happens, another will immediately take its place.

Spirit guides will help and guide you whether you're aware of them or not, but by acknowledging them and communicating with them, I think it is much more beneficial. At least in my case it has been.

You and your spirit guides are capable of a very deep bond. When I was first getting to know mine, I realized I had found something incredible. Spirit guides are like best friends, but without the limits our body's have. They can guide, teach, listen, talk. They can give advice and love and when you need help, they can give you energy, and heal you. Not only that, they are always there, and you need only ask.

How do I find my Spirit Guides?

I have read many different ways of getting in touch with your spirit guides. Many I have tried, but they didn't work for me. This doesn't mean they won't work for others.

I am an eclectric witch, meaning I gather many different beliefs and customs from other religions. Through shamanism, I have learned to journey, and was able to meet my power animals and spirit guide that way.

Shamanic journeying is a spirit journey. One person beats a drum, and the one journeying leaves their body and enters another reality, where they undertake a journey. Usually after about ten minutes, then drum beat changes, signalling the journeyer to return again. In the journey to meet a power animal, the animals that appear more than once (three times or more) are the ones connnected to you.

Please be careful in this though. I journeyed under the guidance of my teacher, who is a trained and practicing shaman.
The key is to be absolutely sure of your intention, and to state it the instant you begin.

I am sorry I cannot instruct you more in this, but journeying is something you really can't explain how to do in writing.

There are other ways to meet your spirit guides though. For instance, the thing with seeing an animal more than once can pertain to this reality as well. I heard one case of a bear rampaging through a woman's backyard numerous times before she recognized it for her power animal.

Dreams is another way spirits communicate with us, and our spirit guides may use this too.

If you'd like to get to know you're spirit guides, tell them so. They are with you, after all. Begin telling them you'd like to meet them, and they will help you out. Perhaps they will visit your dreams, or appear to you in your everyday life. In my case, mine led me to my current teacher, who taught me Reiki and shamanism, and through the shamanism, aquainted me with them.

So they are there. Speak to them.
