Herbalism is a craft in itself. This page will hold not only healing information and magical uses, but also will explain how to make a tincture, and what decoctions are. There will also be an herbal index. So those of you who are healers, or witches wishing to learn how to do a few kitchen spells, be welcome!
Chemistry began in the kitchens of our ancestors. Not with the guys in white coats. This is folk chemistry, and true healing knowledge. This is where medicine and chemistry first orgininated.
Herbalism is ancient. It has been around far longer than methods existed to record it. Studies have been taken with animals, and the results show that even animals know herbalism: when they're sick, or needing a vitamin, they find the plants or roots that can help them.

The best time for harvesting leaves and shoots and parts above the earth is the Full Moon. The best time for harvesting roots is the New Moon. This is because vitality grows in the leaves with the moon, and climaxes at the Full Moon, and likewise grows in the roots as the leaves decline, and climaxes at the New Moon.

Snake is one of the guardians of the West. Like Bear, Snake is a healer. Ancient temples of Greece raised snakes and believed they could cure all sickness. Snakes were often put in cribs with babies to ensure them health and drive away illness. Though many shiver at this thought today, Snake is still recognized as a healing master. The symbol for modern medicine, a pole and snake wrapped around it, is proof.
