Bisti Badlands

Evan (another VISTA) and I went on a hike through the Bisti-De-Na-Zin Wilderness in Northwestern New Mexico. It was an eerie collection of odd-shaped rocks and petrified logs. It used to be a swamp back in the Dinosaur's days. We did not find any dinosaur bones this time around but maybe next time.

Bisti landscape.

Old mud with a rock on top.

Strange spires.

Some of this is soft dried mud, some is a strange rough rock.

The New Mexico sky is always so beautiful, even with clouds.

Thunderclouds coming in.

From Above.

After we got back we went on a run in McGaffey amongst bright green grass and red dirt. This is the sunset from a lookout point near there.
