Old News at Pentapod's World of 2300AD

Oct 10th, 1997

A great Challenge article is now available!  The Sung by Deb Zeigler, with artwork by her husband, Rob Caswell.  Thank you both!!  You will find it on the 2300AD magazine articles page ( Two more of Deb's Challenge articles will follow, as soon as I finish scanning and HTMLing them.  I am aiming for one by the end of October, the other in early November).

If you enter my site by my opening screen page, you will have noticed that I've joined the 2300AD webring started by Andy Goddard.  Thanks Andy!  The 2300AD websites have needed one.

There are a several new 2300AD websites, the Great Game II site's URL has changed, and unfortunately there are a couple of bad links, so check out Links to other 2300AD sites page for the complete list.

I have quite a backlog of things built up to post on here on Pentapod's World.  So updates should be weekly for the rest of October, plus I am starting a new menu heading.

Steve C has a new website Steve C's "One Man's View of 2300AD", where you can find the latest version of his task library, plus he is now hosting the HTML version of C.W. Hess and Jay Adan's 2300 Resource magazine.

Andy Brick has changed his website's location.  The new URL is Andy Brick's 2300AD page

I found a few errors in the Near Star data file, the corrected version can be found on my Download Files page.

Steve C has provided an expanded sample from his work, The Crutchfield Compendium: A Task Library. You can now find a selection of space operation skills, just right for starting a space-based campaign.

There is also an overview of genetics in the 2300AD universe.

You can find both in the Best of the 2300AD Mailing List section.

At the end of May, I had to resign from the Great Game II design team.  Now my site will return to routine regular updates, and I will have time to finish my other projects that were on hold, including several 2300AD programs.

My thanks to Clay Johanson for allowing me to host a second Challenge article by him, "Highland", see 2300AD magazine articles

Apr 22nd, 1997

There has been some confusion over stutterwarp on the list( How to join the 2300AD mailing list), see my new article on Stutterwarp Navigation and Speeds in the Best of the 2300AD Mailing List.  It should clear everything up; I noticed the 2300AD vs. Star Cruiser speed problems back when the games first came out.

With many profuse apologies to Steve C for the delay, here are two samples from his skill task library, and an excellent article for any merchant characters on local prices - see Best of the 2300AD Mailing List

Check out Andy Goddard's 2300 site for a Kafer Battlecruiser's deck plans, plus other insightful thoughts concerning the 2300AD universe.

Added the first of three Challenge articles by Clay Johanson - see 2300AD magazine articlees

Finally got around to creating a View guestbook page.  I will now update it everytime I change/add something.  So please sign in, if you haven't done so yet.

I have been busy writing the Great Game II rules, so things have been slower than I hoped, here at Pentapod's world.  I will have the rest of the promised Challenge articles here by the end of the month.

I will start a Recommended Book, Movie and Television Show page, for those with a 2300AD feel, in April.  I realize that opinions vary. If you would like to send me a recommendation, please state what element(s) of it would be of interest to 2300AD players and referees ( such as the plot, the visuals, the science, the creatures, etc.).

Kinsler's 2300 notes and ideas site is down/missing.  I have no idea whether this is short-term, or permanent.

Thanks to Erick Melton, his first two Challenge articles concerning piracy are now on my site.  I will be adding his third and fourth towards the end of March.  Look for another Challenge author's three articles later this month.

Both Steven Alexander and Field Marshall have moved/revised their URLs, so see my links page for the updated ones.

A proposed new military career: Info Warrior

A new version of the navigation software has been released at the Max Lambertini's WARP Home Page.

Feb 1st, 1997:
Well, the list has been quiet over the holidays, and personally January didn't start off on the best track, but things are looking up now.

Hey, after a few glitches, this site is now listed by Yahoo!

Just read on the list that Marc Miller found his copy of the original Great Game ( GDW's game used to model the 300 years following the Twilight War).  I will let you know when it appears on a 2300 web site - there have been many volunteers.

Added a beta version animal generation program - please send me some feedback on it.

Added a new link to a site with Star Navigation Software for 2300AD.

Dec 11th, 1996:
Added Australians - Famous to the names page.
David Nilsen's two 2300AD magazine articles now have all their maps, figures, and tables.
Added Orbital Elevators more technical information on Beanstalks.

Nov 28th, 1996:
Jay's 2300 Resource Page is back on line at new location.  The new URL is on my link page, as well as a few other new sites.
Lone Wolf now includes its figures/maps, but still not its tables.

Nov 19th, 1996:
The text of the surprise articles is on the site.  I will upload the maps and tables for them in a week.  I need to go use a friend's fancy graphics scanner and editing package.
I have also added a section for names for characters by nationality to help struggling gamemasters.

Nov 17th, 1996:
Surprise article is delayed until Friday the 22nd.  It was HTMLed easily, but the gif/jpgs for diagrams, etc. are giving me problems. I will post it all when ready. My apologies for the delay.

Nov 14th, 1996:
Added more articles. Watch for a surprise article this weekend!

Nov 12th, 1996:
Added some articles, and forms.

Nov 11th,1996:
The startup of my page.
