2001's "What's New" at Pentapod's World of 2300AD

December 18th, 2001

There is a new article on Why delaying Stutterwarp Discharge is rare and a Javascript calculator for it, on the Best of the 2300AD Mailing List page.

Pentapod's World of 2300AD is five years old, today!!!

There is a new map, showing all the human accessible arms ( and alien "spaces") as well as known brown dwarves and tug links.  You can find it on the Core and Arms page.

There is a revised version of Terry Kuchta's Rimbel survey ship now online, see the Main Homeworld Spaceport page.  The revision has corrected fuel usage, a new table of interface reaction fuel usage and its starship form now shows its top speed when it most of its fuel has been used.

Steven Alexander's GG2 website is back.  Steven unfortunately only uses a Javascript main menu, which shuts out those without Javascript ( or have it turned off). So until Steven adds a non-Javascript menu, I will provide a page giving normal links to his submenus.  You can find the URL, and the bypass menu page, on my Links to other 2300AD sites page.

Six new relief maps of Tirane by David Malesevich are now online.  You can find them on the Tirane Sourcebook Project page.  Thank you, Dave!!!

July 9th, 2001

There is a new mailing list for those who want to discuss Asia in 2300ad ( as well as for some team writing projects).  You can find out how to join it on the How to join the various 2300AD mailing lists page.

July 5th, 2001

A new map of the American Arm is now online.  It is "to scale" ( GDW moved some stars on the paper maps to make links or name labels more clear), and shows the connections with the Chinese Arm, the Beta Aquilae Cluster and the Backdoor route to Kafer Space.  In a couple of spots ( circled in green) it is unclear since stars or routes are too close together.  I will create a clearer map, also with main trade routes indicated, soon.  You can find the map on the Core and Arms page.

Happy 225th Birthday, America!

June 18th, 2001

To aid some members of the Tirane Sourcebook Project, I ported my old "beta" animal generation software ( written for DOS) over to the Win98/ME operating system.  If interested, download the 2300AD Animal Maker, and try out a few combinations.  Please contact me if you have any suggestions, or desired future features.  I will be adding aquatic and flying creatures in the next version.

I also took a moment to correct the rare max-population case's "roll-over" error in my Population Calculator, and it is now available for downloading.

You can download both of them from this site's 2300 AD Software page.

June 7th, 2001

The next installment of the Tirane Sourcebook Project is now online; Scott Ash's Tirania article provides an overview of America's efforts on Tirane.  There is also an updated version of the global map by David Malesevich.  Thank you, Scott, Dave, and the rest of the Project's team!!!

June 4th, 2001

Two new articles are now available on the Best of the 2300AD Mailing List page.

Thank you, Steven and Bryn, for your help with the currency article!

May 11th, 2001

Andy Brick has restored his website.  You can find the URL on my Links to other 2300AD sites page.

April 12th, 2001

More new items and updates on my Main Homeworld Spaceport page.

April 2nd, 2001

Starship control sheets for three new designs, as well as text descriptions for all the Manchu ships, are now on my Main Homeworld Spaceport page.

Thank you Bill !!!

March 23rd, 2001

The next installment of the Tirane Sourcebook Project is now online.

Thank you, Ben and Dave!!!

There is a cool new website, Dan Hebditch's "Etranger: The Military in 2300AD", you can find the URL on my Links to other 2300AD sites page.

March 20th, 2001

Sad News: I found out today, that Andy Brick has decided to take down his website.  There is some hope that its contents will be back online on another site, and when that happens I will update the Links to other 2300AD sites page.

February 18th, 2001

An unpublished adventure article by Matthew Prager ( it was waiting to be published in Challenge magazine when GDW shut down) is now available on the Best of the 2300AD Mailing List page.  Thank you Matthew!!!

I finally had a chance to finish the one DGP adventure, The Hogan 500, which I had not yet put online.  You can find it on both the 2300AD magazine articles page, and the 2300 AD articles from The Travellers' Digest magazine page.  Thank you Roger!!!!!!

Terry Kuchta helped by scanning and OCRing The Hogan 500 for me.  Thank you Terry!

February 14th, 2001

If you entered my site by the front page ( the one with the starfield background), you may have noticed that the 2300 webring logo is gone, and a new logo has taken its place.  Andy Goddard has decided to shut down the 2300AD webring ( he is its "ringmaster"/owner), as he does not agree with the policies and changes made by webring.org's new owner.  You can find out the details on how to join Andy's replacement for it ( which I will run for him), here on Andy's site and here on mine.

I had a few minutes free at lunch, and so now an improved "beta" version of a population calculator program ( for the Win98/ME operating system) is available from this site's 2300 AD Software page.  Please contact me if you have any suggestions, or desired future features.

February 12th, 2001

Last night ( very early this morning), I threw together a quick "alpha" version of a population calculator program ( for the Win98/ME operating system), to generate numbers which are more accurate than GDW's tables ( which did not take into account the eventual deaths of the colonists).  If interested, download it and try out a few combinations.  Please contact me if you have any suggestions, or desired future features.  You can download it from this site's 2300 AD Software page.

February 10th, 2001

Starship control sheets for three new designs ( Bill Seney, a new contributor, was lead designer of two of these), and two corrected GDW designs are now online.

There are also updated sheets for the Chien-Lung-class destroyer and Tunghu-class missile frigate replacing the ones I made available last month.

You can find them all on my Main Homeworld Spaceport page.  Thank you Bill !!!

Text descriptions of the new ships and their histories, plus more Manchurian designs will follow shortly.

January 11th, 2001

Can anyone else help Steve Whitting ( aka Freetrader)?  His Freetrader's 2300AD Merchant Spaceships website was lost when his ( now ex-) hosting site's server "crashed-and-burned".  He has restored an older copy of his site on Geocities ( see his site's entry on my Links to other 2300AD sites page for the new URL), but he is missing his most recent work.  If anyone has copies on their drives, could you please contact Steve to arrange to send them to him.

January 7th, 2001

For those interested in making very large starships or space stations, you will find the new Extended "Reflected Signature" Table to be useful.

There are also some new starship control sheets available:

The table and the ships can be found on my Main Homeworld Spaceport page.

January 1st, 2001

Happy New Year!  Welcome to the new millenium here at Pentapod's World of 2300AD, there are some interesting surprises in the works.

Remember, only you can prevent Kafer invasions, and there are just 300 years left to prepare.

Prior years' "What's New" entries are now here.
