Law School and a captain (reserve duty) with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. Because of her background in engineering and patent law, Kathy writes that her goal as a regent is "to build a bridge between education, science, and industry."

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS: JEFF GORDINIER is a senior writer at Entertainment Weekly magazine. In July, he reported on Steve Spielberg's efforts to achieve realism in "Saving Private Ryan." In the Sept. 18 issue, Jeff wrote about a recent road trip he took with country music legend Willie Nelson. As Willie's tour bus rolled through Colorado, Willie offered Jeff "a joint as fat as a rope" and whispered in his sage-like voice: "It's good for you." (If you want to know what happened next, read the article). DEAN CAIN continues to make entertainment headlines. In October, he appeared in a ABC-TV movie called "Futuresport," which also starred Wesley Snipes and Vanessa L. Williams. According to a newspaper article, the movie is a "futuristic thriller" in which "the fate of the world is determined by the outcome of a single game of Futuresport, a high-tech sport using hoverboards and rollerblades." Witnesses to this amusing scene were: MARK AND SUE BERNER WENGER, DANA LAIRD (and husband Kenji) and JIM HERMENS (and wife Cindy). Fortunately, for the host (me), there was plenty of time for Betsy and Jon to make it to the hospital, where Cece arrived the next day.
