~THE FAIR YOUNG MAIDEN WEPT~
~3~
 Bill ([email protected] (Bill Pierce))

"Thank you, Mr. Franklin, I knew you'd help me." She turned and began walking toward where I lived.

It puzzled me that I would be so trusting pf a young girl i didn't know anything about, but it was there in my head. I just knew I could trust that girl. Then I realized what she had said. How did she know my last name was Franklin? Well, nearly everyone in this town knew me and she had probably asked someone.

Many of the merchants were unrolling their awnings in preparation for the sunny spring day. A few were sweeping off their sections of sidewalk. It was just a few minutes after eight O'Clock on a bright May morning.

I stopped at Walgreen's Drug Store to but my morning newspaper.

"Good morning, Dennis." The pharmicist waved.

"Hi there, Thomas, how are you this fine morning?"

"Pretty fair, I guess."

"Thomas, did you see me there across the street, right by the traffic light, talking to a little girl?"

"Yes, i saw you there, but I didn't notice a girl."

"Hmmmm...Well she knew my name. I just wondered if you knew her, or who she was?"

"Nope, sorry, Dennis, I didn't see her there."
