The couple spent most of the day in bed. They simply couldn’t get enough of each other. After one hot and heavy tryst, AJ lay back on the pillow, out of breath. Dawn was still on top of him. She leaned down and kissed him passionately on the lips.
"And you said it was me who couldn’t get enough??" He gasped, still trying to catch his breath.
She got up and lay down next to him. She rested her chin on his chest and stared at him.

"Are you complaining?" She asked.
"Definitely not," he answered as he flipped her on her back and lay on top of her.
"You’re crazy,” she said as she laughed. Then, she felt a sharp pain through her abdomen and screamed out in pain. AJ got up in a hurry.
"Are you okay?" He asked, worried.
"Yeah, I think so, I don’t know what is wrong with me,” she replied.
"Well, we’re gonna find out, what’s your doctor’s number?" He asked, picking up the phone.
"I don’t know it off the top of my head, the number’s in my purse, though," she said, bringing her knees up to her chest.
AJ went in the kitchen and got Dawn’s purse then went back into the bedroom and handed it to her. She got her wallet out and took out the number. AJ handed her the phone and she dialed. "Do you want anything to drink?" He asked her while she was waiting for someone to answer.
"Would you mind getting me a glass of milk?"
"Sure, I’ll be right back," he replied.
Finally a receptionist answered the phone and Dawn made an appointment. It would be two weeks before they could see her. She didn’t want to wait that long, but she didn’t have much of a choice. AJ brought her a glass of cold milk and she covered herself with the blanket and sat up to take a sip.
"Did you make the appointment," he asked.
"Yeah, it’s at 10:00 on the 21st,” she replied.
“The 21st??” AJ practically yelled. “That’s in two weeks!!”
“I know, but that’s the soonest they could see me. The receptionist said that they would give me a call if they had any cancellations”.
AJ sighed and plopped down on the bed. Dawn looked over at the clock.
"It’s getting pretty late, I know this is gonna sound like I’m a chicken, but I want to leave a message for Anthony on the answering machine before he gets home from work letting him know that I won’t be meeting him tonight".
AJ felt like his head was going to explode. "I haven’t decided yet. I think I’ll save the details for another time and just tell him that I’m not feeling well tonight,” she responded.
"Why don’t you just tell him that you’re not coming back to him and to go fuck himself,” he suggested.
Dawn looked over at him.
"I don’t want to do that on an answering machine, I’ve been with him for five years, he deserves for me to at least talk to him face to face".
"He deserves to go straight to hell,” AJ said under his breath. "And if you think that I’m gonna let you go and talk to him by yourself, you’re completely off your rocker,” he finished.
Dawn didn’t have a comeback for that, she knew he was right. If she was going to tell Anthony that it was over between them for good, she probably shouldn’t go alone. Thing was, she didn’t want AJ going with her, either.
"Just let me at least call him and leave him a message about tonight. I’ll deal with the rest later".
AJ walked out of the room and went outside. He sat down on the deck and lit a cigarette, puffing on it furiously.
"I really and truly hate that man,” he said, his mind still on Anthony.
‘Thank god I got Dawn away from him, he would’ve ended up killing her’, he thought to himself as he puffed on his cigarette.
His mind was still on Anthony and what he would do to him if he ever laid eyes on him again when Dawn walked outside wearing one of his button down shirts.
"It looks better on you than it does on me,” he said, examining her ensemble.
She sat down next to him and placed her legs on his lap.
"Did you call him?" He asked.
"Yeah, I left a message telling him I didn’t feel well, but that we still needed to talk…..soon," she replied.
"Let me know when you’re gonna go. I don’t want you going by yourself,” he said sternly.
"Yes Dad,” Dawn replied, sarcastically.
"I’m sorry, but I don’t want you anywhere near him ever again,” AJ stated. Dawn took the cigarette out of his hand and put it out. She sat down on his lap, straddling him.
"You’re so cute when you’re being fatherly,” she said as she nuzzled her nose in his neck and kissed him lightly.
"I’m being serious, Dawn, I don’t want you alone with him. I worry about what he’ll do to you next, especially when you tell him that you’re leaving him for good” .
"Uh-huh,” Dawn replied as she was kissing his ear and rubbing his chest.
"Are we feeling better?" He smiled.
Dawn grabbed his face and kissed him aggressively on the lips.
"I take that as a yes,” he responded as he picked her up and carried her into the house. The morning of Dawn’s doctor’s appointment came and she got up to get ready to go to the doctor’s. She walked into the kitchen and saw a bouquet of assorted tulips on the counter with a small card. It read,
‘I know these are your favorite and I thought I would give you a little something to brighten your day the same way you brighten mine every time I look at you. I love you with all my heart, Love, Alex’.
The phone suddenly rang and Dawn picked it up.
"Hey beautiful,” AJ’s raspy voice said on the other end. "I just wanted to make sure you were up".
"The flowers are beautiful, thank you so much,” Dawn gushed. "I was just getting ready. I’ll probably be leaving in about twenty minutes".
"Okay, call me on my cell if you need me for anything,” he said.
"Okay,” Dawn replied.
"Oh, and there’s fresh coffee there for you in the coffeepot".
"What would I do without you," Dawn smiled
"I don’t know, I guess you’d have to find someone else to tie to the bed,” he teased.
“Oh, you loved it”.
“Oh yeah,” he said as they both laughed.
“Okay, I gotta go. I’ll see you later".
"Okay, I’ll come right over to the studio when I’m finished. I love you,” Dawn said to him.
"I love you, too,” AJ replied, shocked that Dawn had said it first, or at all.
Dawn hung up and went to the doctor. The visit went pretty routinely. The doctor asked her what symptoms she was having. She told him about her dizziness and the pain in her stomach she had felt.
He asked her if she had experienced anything else. It took her a minute to remember that she had been sick earlier a few times. He asked her when her last period was. For the life of her, she couldn’t remember. Now that she thought about it, she realized that she hadn’t gotten her period in quite some time. She didn’t think much of it, though because of all the stress she had been under recently.
The doctor examined her and took some blood. He kept incinuating that she may be pregnant, considering her symptoms and the fact that he couldn’t find anything else wrong with her after the examination. He said he would call her later in the day when the results came in. She gave the receptionist her cell number and left.
She headed to the studio, the whole way there all she could think about was the possibility that she was pregnant, worse yet, it would be Anthony’s baby. She felt tears start to form in her eyes.
"I’m on the pill, I have been for years! I can’t be pregnant!" She said to herself, aloud.
She tried to remember any time that she may have forgotten to take her pill, but she couldn’t come up with anything. She pulled into the studio parking lot and looked in her mirror to fix her makeup. She wouldn’t mention a word of this to AJ until she knew for sure. She got out of the car and went into the building. She found the guys standing around, waiting to start recording.
"I see we’re hard at work here,” she joked.
When AJ saw her, he immediately walked over to her and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"So, what’s up? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, the doctor did take some blood, though. They have to run some routine tests,” she answered, hoping he didn’t question it.
"Did he say what it might be,” he prodded.
"No,” she lied. "He’s going to call me when the test results come in".
"I’m sure you’re fine,” AJ tried to console her. “Like you said, it’s probably just stress”.
"Alright kids, let’s get to work,” Kevin yelled.
Dawn stuck her tongue out at him as she walked past him and he laughed.
"Put that away, I don’t know where that thing has been,” he teased.
"You wish you knew", Dawn shot back.
A few hours later, after recording a couple songs, they all went to the conference room to eat lunch. Dawn’s cell phone rang. Her heart started beating a mile a minute, she even considered pretending she didn’t hear it and letting it go to voicemail. Unfortunately, Nick saw her looking at the phone.
"It won’t bite, you know,” he said as picked it up and he handed it to her.
"Thanks", she said sarcastically. What she really wanted to do was throw the phone and hit him in the head with it. She took a deep breath.
"Hello?"
"Yes, hello, is this Dawn Simon?" A voice on the other end asked.
"Yes it is,” she answered.
"Hello Ms. Simon. This is the doctor’s office calling. We just wanted to let you know your test results came in". She closed her eyes.
"And?" she asked.
"Congratulations, you’re pregnant".
