Defending Womens Rights
Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 states that any sex discrimination in school, whether it be academic or athletic is strictly not allowed (http://bailiwick.lib.uiowa.edu/ge).

One major problem is that even though this amendment was created many times women still are not provided with the same athletic opportunities as men (Sigelman, Wilcox).

The early 1990's were cluttered with cases that have been taken to the Supreme court in rergards to compliance with the Title IX Amendment.  Institutions are very hard to regulate in terms of making sure that they are taking into consideration students and athletes abilities and interests.  On January 16, 1996 a three part test was designed to help analyze these institutions(http://www.ncaa.org/gender_equity). But is that enough? Can every institution be fully tested?

The title IX contraversy is one that is ongoing.  Until men and women can reach some common ground with the rights and equalities of athletics than it will not be over(Bryjak).
