| The funds and provisions are to be equally distributed in proportion to the students interests and abilities(Raffel). That is why some people try to argue that a mens football team should get more money than persay a womens softball team. Football is argued to be the more popular sport, it is the bigger crowd attractor, makes more profits, therefore deserves more funding(Sigelman,Wahlbeck). |
| In actuality a mens football team may make more money than a womens softball team but one thing is for sure; A Men's football team also spends much more money to recruit,dress, equip, and transport an average team of 80 players than to do the same for a womens softball team of 20. This is a major issue with the Title IX amendment. Existing mens athletic programs are worried that increased womens athletics will take away funding from them(Gavora). |

| The issues of inequality with sports that are happening the most are heard about the least. A budget does not always reveal the discrepancy's that exist. Benefits and priviledges mean more than just money. Attitudes have been formed of womens athletics and they have shaped the blockade that exists. The challenge of acheiving equality for men and women in sports is not so much monetary but even more mental. |
