Izzy:  Scene 2

"Hello?!  "  Izzy waved her hand in front of her friend's face, "Chloe, are you
there?"
"Umyeah."  Chloe blinked a few times and let her eyes focus.
"Where are you?  What's wrong?"  Izzy persisted.
"NothingNothing." She responded as she dipped her french fry into the glop of
ketchup.  She continued to swirl the fry.  Izzy continued to stare at her friend, a wave of concern flashed through her eyes.  Chloe had always been the "strong one."  Whenever she was troubled, Chloe would always cheer her up.  Now, Chloe was the one that needed her help, and Izzy had no clue what to do.  "Hey, what's wrong? You seem distant"
"UmIt's just stuff.  Don't worry, I'll be fine."  Chloe showed a fake smile.
"You sure? You know I'll listen to you."  Izzy persisted.
"YeahI'll be fine, it's nothing to worry about."  The smile increased.
"Ok, but when you're ready to talk, I'm here."  Izzy smiled.  Something was really bothering her, she thought, if she doesn't want to talk, I won't push her.
"Thanks."  The smile turned into a genuine one as Chloe finally ate the ketchup soaked fry.
A pile of books dropped beside Izzy's arm.  A weary girl appeared in front of them.
"Hey Caitlin, kinda late isn't it?"  Chloe commented as she eyed the textbooks.
"ARRGH!!!" Caitlin exclaimed as sat down and dropped her head on her folded arms.  "I can't stand this!" Both of her friends stared at her then gave a look to each other.
"UmCaity, what's wrong?" Izzy finally said.
"Everything!!!!"  Caity said with a muffled voice.  "I went to sleep at 4 last night.  I slept for 3 freakin hours!  I hate English!  I hate essays! And that's not the end! I had three tests, that I think I failed because I couldn't concentrate.  I want to sleepI'm soo tired."
"You have to stop doing this to yourself," Chloe said.
"Easy for you to say.  You know that I can't do that."  Caity finally picked up her head.  Her glasses were slightly askew. "I'm sorry, I'm just soo tired!  How do you do it, Chlo?  When do you find the time to do this stuff?"
"I don't, Believe me, I don't." Her friend replied as she returned her concentration to her french fries.
"I just don't know what to do!" Caity put her head back down.
"WellI'm sorry to say it, but I'm really glad I'm not in Honors classes."
Izzy proclaimed after a brief silence. "Hey look it's snowing!" They all looked at the windows.  "Oh, I love the snow!"
  Caity and Chloe exchanged looks.
"What? Well, I do." Izzy looked at them offensively.
"Don't mind her," Chloe said to Caity, "She's just a little too cheerful since her boyfriend got back with her."   The three girls laughed.
"Omigod!" Caity exclaimed suddenly, "I totally forgot! Happy Birthday Izz! I'm soo sorry, I've been so occupied lately."
"Don't worry about it, I know you've been really busy."
"I'm sorry, I'll bring in your present tomorrow."
"Don't worry about." Izzy was being tapped repeatedly by Chloe. "What the hell's your problem?"
"ShhhDon't look, but that girl at the other table has been staring at us for the last 5 minutes." Chloe lowered her head and whispered to her friends.  Caity glanced over her shoulder and Izzy turned around pretending to look for someone.  "The red-haired one two tables over.." Chloe whispered again.
Izzy finally saw her.  She was this thin girl with the brightest red hair, just like fire.  She wasn't staring at them now, but she glanced up once in a while. Izzy turned back to face Chloe.  "How weird! I don't even know her."
"Me neither.  Is she new?" Chloe asked
"No, she was in my Bio class last year."  Caity chimed in. "I think her name is Krysta or sumthing."
"Krysta" Izzy murmured.  The name seemed familiar.  The bell rang for attendance.
"Hey Izz, are you walking home today?" Chloe asked as she got up to throw her thrash.
"Uh..No." Izzy replied. "I have to meet Alex at his locker."

Izzy glanced at her watch and tapped her foot.  It was 3:00. "Where was Alex?" She wondered.  He had said that they would meet at his locker at 2:40.  The halls were empty, everyone had gone home.  She impatiently tapped her foot again and glanced up and down the halls.  "Where is he?  He said that he would meet me here. Maybe he had to talk to a teacher or something." She thought.  "3:05, that's it, I'm leaving."  Izzy decided to leave him a note in his locker, "25, 2, 36" She whispered to herself.  She opened the locker to find that his jacket and bookbag were gone.  "That's strange, he left already." She slammed the locker door closed.  She didn't notice the piece of paper that slipped out of the locker.  It was a teared piece of notebook paper
