Chloe kicked her locker repeatedly. "Damn locker" escaped her lips a little too often. She couldn't help it, cursing was just a thing that came natural to her. She looked over her shoulder. There were a couple people looking at her, but no one was staring. She looked up the hall and saw Xavier coming towards her. Chloe focused again on her locker; she didn't want him to think she was staring at him. Thankfully the locker finally opened when he stopped to talk to her. He patted her head and she smacked his hand away. It was like a daily ritual, she would go to her locker after lunch, and he was always there to meet her. "Hey, Chlo." He said casually as he leant against the next locker. He tapped her locker door. Chloe continued to take her books out of her locker. She finally glanced up to see him. "Can you please stop tapping? That's really annoying." She snapped at him. "Chill, chill, god what's wrong with you?" He said defensively. "Nothing, just a bad day." "Fine, I wonder who's time of the month it is." "Shut up." Chloe was really peeved, and this conversation was not helping her. She failed her History test and she had another test coming up. And then there was her family. Not to mention this thing with Xavier. "Sorry, ok, I just don't feel good." "Ok, ok, I get it" He said as he looked towards the staircase. "Hey, look who it is." He hinted towards the boy who walked towards them. Chloe looked up to see Clark strolling towards them. He smiled and waved at them as he passed. "He's just so full of it." Xavier said when Clark was out of earshot. "You know I just wanna beat the shit out of him. Hey, don't forget to tell me when you reject him, I wanna see the look on his face." "Who said I'm going to reject him?" Chloe said coolly. She kept her eyes on her books, praying that she wouldn't mess up. "What?! What do you mean?" Xavier exclaimed. To say he was surprised was an understatement. He stared at her in shock. "I'm thinking of accepting his offer." "This is the same person we're talking about, right? This is Clark Hanson. I thought you hate him as much as I do." "I don't hate him hate him. I mean he is still one of my friends and despite his egotistic ways, he is a really nice person." Chloe looked up, Xavier was staring at her. She got up and closed her locker door. "Besides, we're just going as friends." She said as she started down the hallway. Xavier caught up behind her. "You know that you're really not his type." He said a little breathlessly. "Am I really anyone's type?" She answered eyeing him. She tried to walk a little faster, but he always matched her step. "Well, he's exactly not my type either. But if it means that I don't have to sit alone at the last song, then I'll take the offer." She stopped and looked straight at him. "Why the third degree? You were the one who pushed for it." "That's because I thought that you would turn him down." Chloe rolled her eyes and started walking again. He quickly caught up with her. "I also don't wanna see you get hurt." He grabbed her arm. She turned to him. "You know what he's capable of." She shrugged his hand off her shoulder. "Look, Xavier, there's not exactly a billion guys lined up to date me. If he's the only date I can get, then I'll take him." She then looked him straight in the eye. "I know what I'm getting into, I am a big girl. Besides if you're so worried about me why didn't you take me to the prom." Chloe cringed as soon as the words escaped her lips. She gripped her textbook tightly. "What?" "Uh " Chloe panicked, "I mean if you did take me to the prom then I wouldn't have to settle for Clark as a date." She needed to change the subject. "But since you're going with that dumb blonde" She waited for his response. "Hey," He turned away, "Abby isn't a dumb blonde." He looked back at her with fake disappointment. "She's justslow." Chloe breathed a sigh of relief. Then she continued to tease him. She started to twirl her hair and said, "Oh like really? Because I swear that she like could like fly away with her big airhead." She started to smack the gum in her mouth. "So like Ex-avier, um, did you like know that you can't wear blue because it would totally clash with my dress? Uh, duh. I can't go out in like public with you." Xavier started to laugh. "Geez, she really does talk like that." He said with a smile. "Heehee, I know." Chloe started to giggle. They were approaching his classroom and stopped right in front of the door. "Look, sorry I was up on your back about the Clark thing." Xavier said. "I'm really glad that you're going, the prom wouldn't be the same without you." "Really?" "Yeah," The bell rang for the switching of classes. A flood of people escaped the classrooms. "Hey, besides, maybe we can ditch our dates and go clubbing." He winked at her. "Yeah, I won't forget my dancing shoes." She winked back and started toward her class down the hall. Her heart was racing and a funny feeling filled her chest |
