Back in the 1699, for us now, so long ago, people migrated to the United States from Europe. Making all of us Mutts ultimately because the mixed genes began to blend in with the Indians along with the other races. Nevertheless, each of us is proud of our heritage, searching the genealogy trees to find our selves in the kin that we manage to dig up. We look back at how hard many had to live wondering what made each of the faces appear so happy and content! Yet the smile is genuine and the laughter as well, so clearly they were very happy despite the hard work, with little pay. Things were bargained and much cheaper. I recall hearing dad comment often times about his mother being so thrifty, she would watch the scales when her chickens were weighed along with things she purchased to make sure she was not cheated. (She married John Gillespie). William and Lydia’s son. Granddad John had a treasured orchard that he harvested yearly and cared for. The fruits it yielded were from his hard work and green thumb. Together, grandmother Nan and Granddad John made the several acres of land pay off given to them by grandparents Lydia & William Gillespie. (Soon I hope to have a nice photograph of the two-story house that John and his sons built together). The farm was a marvelous tranquil place for living. Quite with beautiful rolling mountains all around. Grandparents William and Lydia lived just a mile or so further up the railroad. (There were passed on before I ever met them), I think most of my immediate family never knew the great grandparents! Anyway, below the names and dates I gathered.
