By 4000 B.C., the climate had become similar to that of the present. The megafauna of the past were extinct or moved far north. People had to broaden their source of food, including many species of plants and animal. Sedentism began during this period and near the end, corn was planted. Indicative of this period were basin metates, flaked tools, and no pottery. Many Archaic sites have been found throughout the area. |
