Stage 8 - Londinieres to Envermeu
Considering we'd just covered 80 or so miles, the last bit of which had involved a gruelling climb, this stretch was surprisingly enjoyable.

No more hills, just following the line of a river and coping with gently undulating terrain - which was a good job really as my legs decided at this point to stiffen up with the threat of cramp.

A change of pedal stroke seemed to have the right effect and after about five minutes the pain disappeared - much to my relief.

Jane still seemed to be progressing effortlessly, however...
Last checkpoint
We discovered the information about the cobbled streets of Douvrend - after we had ridden all over them. Otherwise it was plain sailing (much of it down hill) to Envermeu and the last checkpoint. Here we were greeted with encouraging cries of 'nearly there now' and 'just one last bit'.

News that Tony and Lee were only 3 kilometres behind spurred us on and we cycled gamely out of Envermeu to face our final fickle finger of fate...
