Who I Am... 1-1 Complete and return the PARENT PERMISSION FORM. 1-2 Get student's name and email address from Steve. 1-3 Begin corresponding with your student. Save and print all correspondence. Remember to write in regular, clear English. Spell and grammar check your letters before you send them. Write your letter using WORD (or other word processing program). After saving and checking your letter, copy and paste it into ePals and send. Remember to include a Cc: to yourself when you write each letter. 1-4 Watch this brief video about Sweden. Do some research about Sweden. Consult at least three sources. Print a map of Sweden. Use this information to write a 1-3 paragraph paper about Sweden. 1-5 After you've sent at least SEVEN (7) letters to your student and received SEVEN (7) responses from him/her, summarize what you've learned about each other in a 1-3 paragraph paper. Even if you don't receive 7 letters, you may earn credit if you write, send, print 7 letters and summarize what happened.. 1-6 Spell and grammar check both papers (1-4 & 1-5). 1-7 Meet with Steve or your advisor to evaluate your progress (this assignment sheet, 7+ letters, research, map, summary papers: 1-4 & 1-5) and post credit. Find out about your partner's home, neighborhood, city and state. Ask enough about their home that you'll be able to draw a sketch of it. 2-2 Remember to write in regular, clear English. Spell and grammar check your paper. 2-6 On an 8.5 by 11 inch or larger sheet of paper, draw a sketch of your partner's home. 2-7 Meet with Steve or your advisor/teacher to evaluate your work (this assignment sheet, copies of correspondence, map, 1-3 page summary paper (2-5), sketch of partner's home) and post credit. Find out about what your partner likes to do. Save and print all correspondence. 3-2 If possible, send and receive pictures of you doing things you like to do and your partner doing the same. 3-3 Take a look at Andreas's website--he's from Sweden and he's traveling by bicycle: http://www.narfstgrom.se. Discuss this venture with your partner. 3-4 Do you like to shop? What's one of your favorite places to shop? What's one of your partner's favorite places to shop? Write a paragraph. Have you visited an IKEA store? Read about the history of the company and write a paragraph about it. Get feedback from your partner about IKEA. 3-5 Send a postcard to your friend. If you're unable to send a "by mail" card, you may send an email version via ePals. Print a copy. 3-6 Create a short (5 to 10 slides) PowerPoint(R) presentation about things you and your partner like to do. Include at least one slide about Andreas and bicycling in Sweden (other bike links) and the USA. LINK to new templates. Send a copy of the presentation to your Swedish Friend. If you don't have access to PowerPoint(R), create a paper version; OK this with teacher/advisor before creating it in paper format.
