Educational Philosophy

State schools are expected to do everything: prepare students for college or vocational technical jobs, enable both brighter and slower students to excel at their respective levels, inculcate the 'right' values, teach proper sexual behavior, teach students to think critically, raise the self-esteem of students, discipline children, prevent them from turning to drugs, alcohol, or suicide, teach a wide-ranging curriculum, create racial sexual, and gender understanding and harmony, win ball games, and do all of these things in a manner that is pleasing to the students so they will not be bored or discouraged.
My philosophy of education is that all children can learn.  My job as an educator is to support and facilitate learning.  I believe that as an educator I should go beyond the normal means of instruction to ensure that students master skills.  I believe that as an educator I should truly make a positive difference in students' lives.

I am a high school mathematics teacher.  I use graphing calculators in my class daily. With the use of calculators, my students are able to manipulate graphs and solve equations with ease.  I integrate technology into my instructions by allowing the students to use the laptop computers to do tutorials.  FWISD has an I CAN LEARN lab.  I take my students to the lab sometime to do entire lessons.  I find that using technology regularly keeps the students actively engaged in their learning.  Technology is a very valuable and important tool to use in a classroom.
