News 8/11/02I have taken so long to update because I was trying to figure out what I should say. I have allot of opinion about everything that happened. I have allot of words I'd like to say to several people. But I have decided to be a bigger man and not use this site as a forum for such spite. I thank everyone who helped to make Peatage what it was, and I overall had a really good time making it all happen. While I don't want it to end, at the time being it seems to be for the best. I'd like everyone to share with me their thoughts about Peatage and its success and failures. For fans of this site, do not worry, it will remain existent for the time being. And for fans of quality, fun softball, do not worry, for there will be another team in the future and there will be another website. In the meantime please stay tuned to here for periodic updates. Sincerely Yours, News 7/26/02A very disappointing loss last night to The 313. But in a way you have to feel good that so many former Peatage players have found success in this great sport. The loss last night just proved once again that if we gave the opposition only 3 outs an inning, we would be in ever game no matter who we played. Come out next week August 1st to see Peatage's final curtain call as we take on the Fighting Rebels. See you there! News 7/21/02This is the big week for Peatage. Peatage vs. 313 in a battle for the ages. Megan O'Neil was heard saying, "This makes me want to crap my pants, its so exciting." Well we will see if the shit really does fly this Thursday. Stay tuned to the message board all week for continual coverage right up until game time. I shouldn't have to tell you to be there or be square! News 7/8/02Sorry for the lack of updates everyone. As you might know its been a sometimes rough summer for me. And when it hasn't been I like to spend my time having fun rather than staring at a computer screen as I do at work. Anyway Peatage starts up this week once again and I hope we can finish on a high note. I expect the full roster back and ready to go, and I hope we have some fun out there. Anyway I will see you all this Thursday!! News 6/20/02So much has been going on, sorry for the lack of updates! Peatage or CC has been rolling onward, despite several absences. Many last week are due to our Red Wings winning the Stanley Cup, so it can be excused. Many changes are coming for this team, very positive ones. I am currently working on some very interesting projects to revitalize Peatage. Much of this season is left though, and it can still be a success! Lets keep working and for all the fans, keep coming out and supporting us! News 6/3/02Peatage wins again! Great game on Sunday, and a win we definately needed. We are slowly improving every week, building toward what will be quite a showdown July 25th. But we have a long way until then so be sure to check in this Thursday as we take on Larry's Foodland at 7:25 on Bicentennial Field 3. News 5/25/02Finally, Peatage.com is updated! My desktop computer exploded last week causing Peatage updating to be delayed. Fortunately I have been able to set up shop on my laptop for the time being. After a rainout last week, we suffered a tough loss to the Hatricks after a great comeback. I was disappointed I could not take part moreso, but I was able to come off the DL for the late innings. Jason Krimm also provided a big spark with a homerun during the game. Hopefully we can get our second win this Thursday versus the Hunts Ace Hawks, of whom we are undefeated against. Remember this game is on Bicentennial 9, the back field...see you there! News 5/10/02Peatage wins! Peatage wins! The first game is always the hardest and we finally pulled it out this week. I guess my managerial job is safe for another week. Be sure to be there next Thursday as we take on another mystery opponent, BASF. Hopefully they get off the same bus Open Text did. News 5/3/02Peatage has had a rough start but we'll get on the winning track shortly. Allot of new faces learning the ropes but the team will be clicking and winning soon enough. Be sure to be on hand to watch us next week as we take on a mystery opponent - Open Text! News 4/25/02YOU KNOW WHAT DAY IT IS...YOU KNOW WHERE TO BE AT 6:15...THAT IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY News 4/18/02Can you believe it? This will be the last update of the off-season. Be there April 25 at 6:15 at Bicentennial Field 3!!! See you there! News 4/11/02The season is vast approaching. Peatage had a very good practice on Sunday and it was good to see the turnout. Randy showed some outstanding infield defense and Carl put on a great power display. The jerseys arrived this past week and they look great. Hope to see a big turnout on April 25th, see you there! News 4/4/02The schedules are out, the balls are bought, and practice is just about here. I can smell baseball! Be sure to check out the schedule. If you can't make any other game, be sure to be there July 25th as Peatage takes on "The 313", a team filled with several former Peatage players. Should be quite the clash of the titans. Also, be sure to frequent Coach's Corner and tell the owner Mike your a fan of his Peatage softball team! Thats all for now, see you next week. News 3/28/02Hello Peatage! Hello Coach's Corner! The bobblehead has disappeared for the time being. Thanks to all who looked for him! Practices are hard to come by in these cold weather days. Hopefully Spring will start arriving for real shortly. Not much else going on. I'll be in touch... News 3/21/02Sorry for the sparse update this week, I am a little under the weather. First Peatage gathering tonight, hopefully it will be a good turn out. Unfortunately, Luck Larry got struck by lightening and won't be able to sign on to Peatage until the fall. (Ok he's really playing hockey). Big Peatage news, or should I say Coach's Corner news next week, schedule will be out, and hopefully an interview with the owner shortly as well. Until then have a great week! News 3/14/02Peatage is sponsored! Peatage will be sponsored by Coach's Corner for the 2002 season! Very exciting stuff, we will have great jerseys and a greats squad this year...more details to come soon. Don't forget a week from today is Peatage's first practice. If the weather is good, come on out and see us! Anyway thats all for now, stay tuned News 3/7/02Peatage rolls on into the start of the regular season. Still no confirmation of sponsorship, unfortunately we wont be the only team sponsored by Coach's Corner, yet rest assured we will be their favorite. I should have the deal finalized by next Monday. If you have any sponsorship opportunities however, please don't hesitate to let me know of them. The bobblehead game seems to be a success. Look for trivia on Notes From Under The Blue Hat soon as well. That's all for now, see you next week... News 2/28/02I hope to have big sponsor info by next week. We'll keep most of it on the DL for now. Those of you on the team have the detailed info for now. I paid the registration fee today, so we're official but hopefully we will have a sponsor to reimburse me. I got a quality jersey estimate, but without sponsorship, such a jersey might be out of our range, but it'll be up to a team vote. Tim Orow owes me a column, Leah Burney posts messages now (so should you), Randy Dell owes me a beer. That about sums it up...see you next week! News 2/21/02Peatage will go on a very important mission this week to recruit a sponsor. Peatage will target Coach's Corner Bar. It would be very interesting considering they are located only one door away from arch rival Wintergarden. Stay tuned, for Peatage may never be the same again, it'll be better! News 2/14/02Valentines Day...blah. Anyway it only means that the baseball season is closer. I got news today the fee will be due March 1st, so rest assured you'll be hearing from me shortly. In some sad news, Peatage would like to send its deepest sympathies to our dear friend and teammate Jim Bradow for the loss of his father. We will be there to support Jim during this hard time. Anyway, I will return next week.... News 2/7/02Well Gabbo seems to have made an appearance on the message board. There goes that guessing game. Matt has been hard at work plotting out the final 20 question interviewees. Hmm, didn't know that was actually a word but it is. Anyway I want to add some more content to Peatage soon, most notably video. The higher speed I have now will make that more possible. For this week, check out the 20 Questions with Gary, it rules! Have a good week... News 1/31/02Another week, another week closer. Not much else to say. Hey man, check out the 20 questions this week. By the way, who the hell is Gabbo? See you next week! News 1/24/02Time keeps on slipping (slipping slipping) into the future. Peatage will be here before you know it. As a matter of fact, I start my rigorous workout program of Intramural basketball tomorrow. I love basketball, yet am so horrible at it. Oh well, running up and down the court can't hurt my Peatage conditioning. Lots of questions remain for Peatage 2 double 0 2. We shall see how they are answered in the coming weeks. I'm still waiting for some of those jobs to be filled that I listed on the message board. Oh well, until next time.... News 1/17/02Peatage is getting so close, and everyone is excited! The roster for the coming year is still being finalized and still may very well be up in the air going into spring training. The players who are locked in though are ready. Nads and Randy are on opposite weight plans from what I hear, Nads to gain, Randy to lose. Therefore, look for the team weight overall to stay the same. Not much else going on, be sure to check out the blast from the not too distant past 20 Questions with Jimmy! Until next week, this is your Cap'n signing out.... News 1/10/02Hey Peatage, I hope everyone is well. Great 20 Questions this week, I think Scott Krimm's take the cake. As many of you know, Matt Marken of both Peatage and Backseat Rhythm fame, organized an auction of a BSR cymbal autographed by the BSR members. The proceeds from this auction were given to the American Red Cross. Below are pictures of Matt at the Red Cross. That's all for now, see you next week!
Peatage News Story Of The Week 1/3I did some more research on the word Peatage. The word itself is Estonian. Through several websites I have come to discover that Peatage means a thief or robber! I think this works out as not a bad nickname for a team. Upon hearing this I think we should come up with a new logo that incorporates a thief character and softball. If you have any ideas or artistic abilities please email me! News 1/3/02Not much going on around Peatage. Tim Orow has obtained a digital video camera so he could be having shananigans of his own online shortly. A big happy Birthday goes out to sister and Peatage fan, Megan! Craig Kelley got roughed up for 10 runs in his pitching debut but showed good poise on the mound. Peatage looks to bounce back next Thursday, August 31 versus Library Pub & Grill. Peatage players, practices have been scheduled for the following days and times: **Sunday 8/13, 5pm at Ford Field #7 **Thursday 8/17, 7pm at Ford Field #7 Please be sure to come and let me know if you are unable to make one. The profiles will be updated shortly and the new players profiles will be available as well. That's all for now! News 7/31Hey everyone! I just want to announce the scrimmage game taking place this Thursday at 7:00pm at Ford Field #7. Peatage will be taking on its sister team, The Revolution. It will be very exciting and I encourage you all to attend. Thanks! News 7/29Hey Peatage members and fans! Thanks for a fun season, lets keep it going in the fall. I just got the fall schedule and it is posted on the site under schedule. I will also have paper copies shortly. It looks pretty favorable, we lead off against Wintergarden Bar, who we SHOULD have beat a few weeks back, but we'll get the job done in the rematch. I know your all going to go leave positive messages on the message board, because that is what Peatage is all about, unless your an opponent of course. Well that's all for now, more updates on the new fall players and such will be up shortly. Thanks! News 7/24Hey everyone...Matt wanted me to leave a tidbit here more often for everyone's amusement. So that I guess counts as the tidbit for today. Also, the results and scores for all our games can be found in the schedule section. As soon as I receive fall schedule information it will be found there as well....Go Peatage! News 7/21Peatage suffered its most heartbreaking loss of this tough season Thursday as Wintergarden defeated Peatage 9-8 on a 3-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th inning. Peatage has to fight through much adversity concerning missing players and injuries. Among the positives, Matt Marken continued his surprising power surge, hitting his 2nd homerun of the season. Fine games were also turned in by Jason Buntine and Mike O'Neil. Peatage's outfield also played outstanding as a group. Carl Buchin suffered a season-ending pinky finger injury in the 4th inning sliding into home plate. Carl will be placed on the disabled list and the entire Peatage organization wishes him luck, and thanks him for his contributions this season. Please join Peatage for our final game of the summer, this Thursday at 8:35 on Bicent. field 2. I want to also thank Jim Bradow and Brad MacDonald, who will not be joining us for the fall season, and Mike O'Neil who will be cutting back on his number of games played. Remember, once a Peatage player, always a Peatage player! News 7/14I just wanted to congratulate Sarah Kelley for being the lucky winner in our 1,000 fan contest. For this she will receive a team autographed softball (retail value 100 dollars). Good Job Sarah! Note to team: We need to autograph a softball. Thanks. News 7/13Peatage had its best victory ever on Thursday night as we defeated Hunt's, 11-10 in extra innings. Much thanks is given to the umpire for letting our game continue for an 8th inning. After being down 6-0 the first inning Peatage fought back for its 3rd victory in the last four games. Great defensive efforts were put forth by all, including Matt Ritzler at 2nd base and Anthony who through out the tying run at the time at home plate to Matt Marken. Philippe also turned a key double play at 3rd. Peatage part timer Jimmy Moore also added a 2 run opposite field single in our winning effort. Good Job to All!! Lets keep up the good work! News 7/8Hey everyone, The money for Fall Peatage will be 42 dollars per person. Once again, this league will start August 22, and be doubleheaders on Thursday nights for 7 weeks. If I am able to find a sponsor, a portion or all of this money will be refunded to you. I need to turn the money in by July 21 so the sooner you can get that to me the better. If you have any sponsor ideas please let me know. I know Philippe had mentioned something to me about this, hopefully we can find someone. That's all for now! News 7/6Peatage put on a spectacular performance Thursday as we beat Remax 18-4. Peatage finally put together solid defense with a non stop hitting barrage to pull out our second win of the season. This is all despite only having 9 fielders, including Jason, who made a very good return from his hand surgery. This schpidoinkel effort will no doubt carry on to our next game Thursday against Hunt's. I'm proud to be a Peatage player! News 7/4Peatage stats will be updated after our next game. They are almost too gruesome to do without seeing how great we do this Thursday. I want to wish everyone a Happy 4th. I'm sure our American Hero, Jason, has enjoyed it. I want to Thank Matt and the others who have helped come up with some very creative cheers for individual players for the next game. All I have to say is RRRR! The Pirate may very well become a symbol or mascot for all that is Peatage, it even starts with a "P", how perfect is that? Well that's all for now, hope to see everyone Thursday!!! News/Game Result 7/1Peatage suffered one of its worse losses Thursday as we were mercied by Immersion Graphics, 16-2. Not only was this personally a bad game, overall Peatage did not perform the fundamentals necessary to win ballgames. To make matters, worse, I was just informed Craig "Machine Gun" Kelley suffered a broken wrist sliding in to second base. The fact he did not let this pain show for the rest of the game just displays what a tough soldier Craig is. This accident is very unfortunate and we will sorely miss having Craig in our lineup the rest of the season. As The Revolution said, this day of baseball was like The Twilight Zone...hopefully next week Peatage will get back on track! I also just received information regarding the Livonia Softball Fall League. As many of you remember from last year, this season is 7 weeks long and has doubleheaders on Thursdays. The money would be due July 21, and the first game would be August 22. Peatage will have to get together and decide as a collective whether or not to participate in this coming season. If you could all drop me a line to give me a preliminary idea I would appreciate it. Thanks! Casey News 6/25Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of updates. It appears the majority has spoken about Steak and Shake, unfortunately I walked in there tonight and it was still a dump. I guess the search for a new, quality place will be a little longer. In the mean time, its unimproved, and we've yet to discover why. I want to say Happy Birthday to our star catcher, Craig "Machine Gun" Kelley. I also want to congratulate our own American Hero Jason Buntine on finally getting his cast off this Wednesday. He will be back in action soon I promise. Be sure to check out Peatage this Thursday as we look to continue our winning streak!! News/Game Result 6/15Finally, Peatage has found victory. Peatage beat Leidal & Hart 14-11 Thursday night to achieve our first victory of the season. Peatage was able to fend off a last inning rally by Leidal when they scored 6 runs. Everyone played a solid game and the entire Peatage clan should be congratulated. I want to personally thank the large crowd as well that was in attendance cheering us on. This weeks Fan of the week is Jen Krisher for successfully saying the secret phrase. For this she will receive a moon pie....Good Job Jen! The stats have been updated through 6/15. One more reminder, there is no game next week because of the Livonia Spree. News/Game Result: 6/8Another tough loss for Peatage as we fell to Benny's 11-9. Improvement was continued yet it was not enough in this effort. Updated stats and more info to be up shortly. News/Game Result: 6/4Peatage again suffered a heartbreaking loss in a makeup game Sunday to Sandy's, 9-8. In spite of a late inning comeback, we came up a run short in the final tally. Players of note for the game include Brad who had two doubles, and Carl who came within inches of a homerun and settled on a ground rule double. This was the best defensive game for Peatage this season and they look to continue that trend this Thursday versus Benny's. News/Game Result: 6/1Yesterday Peatage suffered a heartbreaking loss to The Misfits, 17-8. Despite better overall playing and improvement, the short centerfield fence did the damage as The Misfits hit 3 homeruns in the 5th inning, resulting in 12 runs scored that inning. Peatage looks to continue this improvement as we take on Sandy's this Sunday at 5:05 at Bicentennial Field 5. Hope to see you there! News: Updated 5/29Mike O'Neil (my dad) got his 1,000 hit in softball this past Thursday. As he had hoped it was a legitimate single that he can record in his storied record book. This is a very special milestone and the entire Peatage organization congratulates him! www.peatage.com I promise to be working by Thursday, it will be the same as this site but kind of cool to have none the less. I hope to also have an advertising banner at the game Thursday for our site. This of course is as long as the league lets us hang it. I hope everyone is as pumped about playing Thursday as I am, we really have a good shot against Misfits if we are all on top of our game! |
