How Getting to Know God Will Save Your Life The religious views expressed on this website are based solely on my personal beliefs and experiences with God. I am merely a child of God and have never received any formal religious education whatsoever. I am writing this to tell you about The Good News and Gods gift of salvation and how you can receive this gift today and be assured of your place in heaven when you leave this world. Jesus Christ gave his life for you on the cross. He shed his blood for you so that your sins would be forgiven once and forever. So, what is The Good News you ask? It can be found in the Bible in the book of Romans chapter 10, verses 9 through 11: For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed. (Romans 10:9-11 New Living Translation). This, my friend, is referred to as The Good News. You see, we as Christians are called by God to spread the Good News to everyone who chooses to hear it. I encourage you to take a trip away from the hustle and bustle one day and just spend some quiet time with God. He wants to hear from you! Tell Him your true feelings. It doesnt have to be a formal prayer. Just talk to Him like you would your best friend. Ask Him to show you what your purpose in life is. Ask Him to show you the ways you can do His work in this world. You may be surprised at what you hear! God does not always give us everything that we want, but you can be assured that He will provide us with our every need. He does work in mysterious ways, and sometimes it is not meant for us to know all of the hows, whens and whys of what He does. However, in the long run we will see that most of the time things happen for our own good, and for a very good reason. Now that you know The Good News, I encourage you to learn more about the teachings of Jesus Christ by studying the Bible. If you currently do not have a Bible, or have one that is hard to understand, I would recommend purchasing one that is written in a more contemporary, everyday language, or a study Bible with some type of footnotes at the bottom of each page. This way you can get the most out of each verse without having to stop and figure out what is being said. I enjoy reading the New Living Translation and The Message. Both of these translations of the Bible, in my opinion, read much like a novel. You may also find it helpful to pickup as many different translations as you need to better understand what a particular passage is sayingit is like having different people around you explaining the same thing in their own way.
