Once you have selected your Bible, may I humbly suggest that you begin by reading The New Testament.  It covers everything that you need to know to live a Christian lifestyleeverything from loving God, to loving your enemieseverything from the birth, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to the day he returns to his take his children home, also known as Judgment Day.

Right from the very beginning, in the book of Genesis, you will see that God has created everything around you for a reason.  Think about iteverything that you see around you:  the animals, the flowers, the trees, the waters, the sun in the sky, everythingwas created by God for a specific purpose in this world and this is your proof that God exists and that He is good!  Even you!  You are an important spoke in the wheel too!  Without you, the world is missing a very important element!

My friend, please know thisGod does not create anything just to lie around and take up space!  There is no reason to feel worthless because you have great worth in the eyes of your Creator! You were created for a great purpose, and with persistent prayer and at just the right time, God will show you what your purpose in life is!

You may not it yet, but you are a
gifted individual!  You see, God has blessed each one of us with a unique talent that sets us apart from everyone else.  For example, football players have the gifts of speed and strength, writers have the gift of words, teachers have the gift of knowledge, etc.

It is my firm belief that each and every one of us is good at at least one thing.  See for yourself in the Bible in the book of 1 Corinthians, chapter 12, verses 4 through 11.  I encourage you to ask God to show you the gift or gifts that He has blessed you with.  Once God has shown you your gift(s), I encourage you to use them in His name to do His work during your time in this world. To quote from 1 Peter, chapter 4, verses 10 and 11, "God has given gifts to each of you from His great variety of spiritual gifts.  Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you.  Are you called to be a speaker?  Then speak as though God Himself were speaking through you.  Are you called to help others?  Do it with all the strebgth and energy that God supplies.  Then God will be given glory in everything through Jesus Christ.  All glory and power belong to him forever and ever. Amen." (from the New Living Translation of the Bible)

Finally, I encourage you to ask God to lead you to a loving church where you feel welcome and at home.  It may not be the first church you choose, but keep trying and youll find your new church home.  Once you find a church that you enjoy attending, get involved by volunteering some of your time with them and attend a Sunday School class or a Bible study group.  By doing this, you have the opportunity to ask questions about what youve read and learn from the experiences of others in their walk with God.

When the Holy Spirit moves into your heart, you know it immediately!  You feel yourself yearning to do good things for people, just because.  Most importantly, you are filled with a desire to live a life of love and peace.  You strongly desire to learn more about what God wants you to do and what you can do for Him.

To this day I enjoy doing Gods work for Gods people; whether its volunteering my time at my church, parking my car on the side of the road to help a stranger, house-sitting for a neighbor while they are away on vacation, or buying a gift for a friend simply because I know theyd like it.  I just enjoy making people happy, and that is the work of the Holy Spirit within me.
