Koko waSadness. As they walked away from the Fast food joint; Bakura couldnt help looking back and feeling a bit smug that Yugi looked shocked and miserable, it served him right for being so mean to Katsuya-kun. As long as it didnt get back to Honda-kun, he was quite happy for Yugi to believe that he and Katsuya-kun were close friends, perhaps more. Daijoubu Katsuya-kun? Bakura lengthened his strides to keep up with the blond boy. Seeing this, Katsuya slowed down and stopped, Ah, dont worry Ryou - its just, well I was having so much fun, and then they showed up; and it hurts that for the first time, Yugis arrival is responsible for the good mood to be destroyed, he smiled and then shaking his head, he allowed the smile to grow, although to Ryou it looked slightly pained, Ah well, lets forget about them, and find this perfect gift - lead on! he made another sweeping gesture, and Ryou couldnt help laughing as he had his hand grasped, and was pulled forward at speed. * * * *** *** * * * Anzu was talking about something, but Yugi didnt feel inclined to listen. He had watched Bakura and Jounouch-kun leave and it made him feel sad and ill to see Jounouch-kun stop to wait for Bakura and then grasp his hand, it was another thing that Jounouch-kun had never done with him, and he was insanely jealous, but he knew he only had himself to blame. Hearing Anzu mention Jounouchi, he turned his attention back, and listened to what she was saying. Can you believe Bakura and Jounouchi acting like that; if theyre not careful people will think theyre homos! Anzu sounded scandalised and disgusted and as the waitress arrived with their food, he pushed his to one side, not hungry. Is that what you think? he answered her, not sure if he wanted the answer or not. Of course, she was blithely oblivious to the tension behind Yugis words, I mean, why would they want people to see them acting like that - its unnatural, not like us, right? she smiled and caught his hand in hers, silently thinking how weak Yugi seemed with a pink flush suffusing his cheeks. Heh of course, he replied weakly, feeling even sicker than ever. You know, Anzu drew her hands back, and looked thoughtful, I always suspected that Jounouchi was a homo, but I thought he had something going for you, she looked him in the eyes and gave him another smile, that she hoped was dazzling, Im so glad you came to me though. Yugi felt as if he had been kicked in the gut, and all his insecurities about his feelings came surging back up. Excusing himself, he just managed to get into the toilets and shut the stall door behind him, before he threw up. *** * * *** This is it! Katsuya turned round, and found Ryou standing behind him, beaming. Whats it? he asked, and looked at the box in Ryous hands. This! Bakura said happily, and turned the box round to reveal a motorcycle alarm clock. Katsuya had to admit he was impressed with Ryous knowledge of Hondas likes, the motorcycle was a replica of Hondas favourite model, and it was even in his favourite colours. A little sad part inside him wished that he had someone like Ryou, who was willing to go round every shop and find the perfect gift, someone who knew what the perfect gift would be. Ryou saw Katsuyas face drop, but he knew it wasnt the gift, he could almost see what the other boy was thinking, but he refrained from apologising - it would just make the blond boy feel worse. Instead, he looked at the shelves Katsuya had been looking at and felt sad. On the middle shelf stood a small replica of the Black Magician; it was a beautiful figure, so well crafted that it looked as if it would move into attack mode at any moment. Katsuya saw what Ryou was looking at and felt a little silly. He had been walking through, admiring the mechas and then he had seen the figure. His fingers had gone to his wallet, and he had actually been checking to see if he could afford it, before he remembered that Yugi had abandoned him for Anzu and a normal, healthy relationship. Still, it was the last one on the shelf and ignoring the look on Ryous face, he picked it up and silently headed towards the checkout. Ryou followed his friend, and they paid for their purchases. The sad look on Katsuyas face, made the normally kind and non-violent Ryou want to return to the diner and punch Yugi for being so insensitive, there was no need for him to be so mean to Katsuya just because he was dating Anzu; he would have thought that in Yugis heart, there would have been plenty of space for both Katsuya and Anzu; idly he wondered what Yami thought of Yugis behaviour. * * * Daijoubu Aibou? Yami had separated from Yugi and was rubbing the smaller boys back as he bent hunched over the toilet, retching painfully, What happened? Yugi lifted his head and pulling some tissue from the dispenser, wiped his mouth, I dont want to talk about it here - Ill tell you at home. When are we going home then? Yami asked impatiently, he had fallen asleep during the film, and hadnt heard or seen what had happened with Jounouchi and Bakura. Ill tell Anzu that I need to get back, shes seen the film and had dinner, so she probably wont make much of a fuss - she knows I dont have any money left either. Yugi stood and walked out of the cubical. Washing his hands he looked at his reflection in the mirror, he could see Yamis concerned face behind him and for a split second, Anzus words haunted him, only they mentioned Yami, not Jounouch-kun. Shaking his head to dismiss the disturbing thoughts, he concentrated on what he would tell Anzu; it wouldnt be too hard to slip away and go home to talk. Yami re-entered his soul room with a gentle Ganbatte, and he took a few calming breaths to centre himself. Leaving the washroom, he was surprised to see Seto Kaiba sitting in the booth, talking with Anzu. Approaching cautiously, he stood at the table, feeling like an outsider. Yugi, Kaiba acknowledged him. Kaiba-kun, Yugi nodded and then turned to face Anzu, I have to get back to the shop now Anzu, is that alright? Sure Yugi, I was just talking to Kaiba - dont worry about it; Ill see you at school tomorrow. Anzu smiled down at him and turned back to Kaiba, ignoring him almost immediately. Choosing to ignore this slight, he left the restaurant and headed out of the mall and back towards the shop. A small part of him hoped that he would run into Jounouch-kun and Bakura-kun, then without Anzu there he could talk to them and make up some of the distance that he had lost with his blond best friend. Unfortunately, he didnt see them and was soon back at the game shop, not looking forward to his talk with Yami. Tadima! he called out as he walked into the house, but he was greeted with silence. Then he remembered that Jiichan and Okasan had gone out for the evening with friends. Taking off his shoes and slipping on his house pair, he ventured upstairs and into his room. Almost immediately, Yami separated from him and they stood for a moment, staring at each other. Then Yami spoke, Aibou, I think we need to have a long talk about whats been going on lately. Youre right, Yugi nodded slowly, We do. BACK TO PART ONE. ON TO PART THREE... |
