Chapter 3
Almost a year has gone by since the breakup. I stopped smoking for my familys sake, but I was still drinking. I hadnt heard from any of the guys since Kevins phone call. I look back & wish I hadnt talked to Kevin like that. We could have still been friends, maybe. I was sitting at home flipping through my mail when I saw a letter from The Firm our ex-management corporation. I opened it to discover that we would all have to go & discuss some issues involving certain items on our contract. I detested that letter because the last line said that if one of us didnt come we would get a summons from the Californian court system to settle this instead. The meeting was scheduled for the 23rd, two weeks to get up my nerves to go. For two weeks I spent time with my family. We talked about my situation & what would come out of it. Reconciliation was one of the outcomes we came up with. I just hoped that that my family knew what they were doing by telling me these things because if it was a major disaster I wouldnt be the way I was now. On the 21st I caught a plane out to California. My body felt like lead as I got off the plane. I saw our manager Dave standing in the waiting area with 2 security guards. I walked over to them hoping I wasnt making the worst mistake of my life.
