THE INCREDIBLE HULK RETURNS
1988
Six years after the Incredible Hulk TV Series aired the last episode "A Minor Problem," and the Hulk was seen picking up a pile of papers at the end of that episode everyone thought The Incredible Hulk would not be seen on TV. But think again! Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno reunite after six years to produce "The Incredible Hulk Returns." David Banner is working for the Joshua Lambert Institute with his girlfriend Maggie Shaw. David is coming closer to a possible cure to the creature when he is interrupted by a fellow student Donald Blake, and of course his big friend Thor. Then Maggie Shaw is captured and David and Thor And of course the Hulk must do everything in their power to get Maggie back---- In my opinion there was a lot of hype for this movie like interviews and Ferrigno appearing on Family Double Dare talking about it, but I thought true die-hard fans were let down because it didn't really follow the story line that the TV Series had- a lot of attention was put on Thor (played by Eric Kramer) rather than The Hulk which should have been the main character, well thats what I and probably a lot of the other fans would have liked to see. One good point was the appearance of Jack Mcgee which brought a smile to my face when he had an encounter with Thor. I kind of liked the makeup of the Hulk for this episode for some reason but judge for yourself with the picture above-- personally I think the nose is a little big. Overall I thought this movie was nice for fans of the Series which aired six years prior.
RATING: 2 and a half stars
Also I was lucky enough to get my hands on an episode of Entertainment Tonight which aired some impressive behind the scenes footage from this movie that I thought was awesome and the showed Bill Bixby putting in the Hulk-out eye contacts! You can read all about that and other behind the scenes stuff in my BEHINDTHESCENES article that I wrote.
