Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Highlands National Park
We left Pictou and headed onto Cape Breton Island, the northern part of Nova Scotia. We made a loop around the cape, spending several nights in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
Whiskey scarecrows
We stopped at Glenora Distillery, which is Canada's only Single Malt Whiskey distillery. They brought the equipment from Scotland, and they buy the peat from Scotland, to make whiskey just as they do in Scotland. Along the road was a place called 'Joe's Scarecrows'. There are scarecrows all over a big area with different themes to the groupings.
Cheticamp
marriage group
We stopped in an Acadian town called Cheticamp, along the Cape Breton shore. We had lunch at an Acadian restuarant.
This group of scarecrows make up a wedding party. This was an odd place.
Cape Breton National Park
Cheticamp
This is how the road looks as you follow the coast in Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
There were colorful buildings along the waterfront in the town of Cheticamp.
Cape Breton National Park crab dinner
A viewpoint in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We stopped at a small RV park in South Bay, at the northern end of Cape Breton. The park also sold seafood so we enjoyed a crab for dinner.
