Welcome to PD Archive's Reviews page. Here we'll tell you all about the game, so if you haven't bought it, you will know everything without having to pay almost $5 to rent it for 5 days. If you would like to have a review of your own on this site, please e-mail it to me at [email protected].
Here are some shortcuts:

The Solo Game
First I will tell you all about the Solo Game. The Solo Game is like Goldeneye 007 times 10! It is awesome. First off, like in GE, there are three different difficulties you can play on, four if you count the extra. First, there is Agent; the easiest of them all. You can't really understand the whole game beating it on this difficulty. Next, there is Special Agent; the next hardest. It is a good level to play on your first time because you can really understand the game once you've beaten it. Third is Perfect Agent; the hardest. Like in GE, you don't get as much ammo for picking up guns, and the enemies are harder to kill. They are also smarter. The CPU has a thing called AI in Perfect Dark. AI means Artificial Intelligence. Unlike in GE, the guards actually charge at you, and don't just stand there waiting for you to kill them. After you've beaten the entire game on all three difficulties, you get PD Mode. PD Mode is like 007 Mode in GE, you can control the enemies health, accuracy, and some other things. Now, on to the actual game. There are all together 21 different action packed levels! There are only nine missions, but there are up to three levels in each mission. Plus, after you beat the entire game on Agent, you get a Special Assignment, and after you beat it on Special Agent, you get another Special Assignment, and so on and so forth. For Weapons information, please visit the Weapons section of our site. All in all, the solo game rocks because of its sheer size, but the AI and in depth missions make it the absolute best solo game for first person shooters on the market.
Combat Simulator (Multi-player)
Now I will tell you only a little bit about the Multi-player section of the game. If you would like more information on the Combat Simulator part of PD, please visit our Multi-player section of our web site. The Multi-player section of Perfect Dark is large enough to be a game in itself. First off, it has the Challenges. The Challenges are the only way to unlock levels in the Combat Simulator. You can also unlock guns by completing challenges, but an easier way is to beat the Solo Game. Any gun you find in the Solo Game, can be used in the Combat Simulator. One addition that will make Perfect Dark famous is the simulants. The simulants are computer generated players that can be enemies to you, or allies to you in the Combat Simulator. For more info on the simulants, click here. For you GE players, they have brought back, and made better, three of the GE multiplayer levels. They brought back the Temple, Complex, and Felicity (Facility). Another great addition that Rare made was the Advanced Setup section. You can now customize the weapons you want in the levels, and even where they appear. I don't want to say too much here, because then I'll have nothing to say in the Multi-player section of our site.
Co-Operative Missions
The Co-Operative missions are just like the solo missions, except that you have some help from either a person or the computer. This is a good way to learn the levels and a good way to learn how to beat the different missions on different difficulties. You have, like in solo, the three difficulties you can choose from, but you can't get PD Mode by defeating the game on Perfect Agent in Co-Op. Also, you can't get any of the cheats by beating the game in Co-Op. Co-Op is fun to play with friends, or a good way to learn how to beat the different missions.
Counter-Operative Missions
Now for the Counter-Operative mode. The Counter-Op missions are really fun to play against friends, especially if you've beaten the game, and they have hardly played it. In Counter-Op, one player is the good guy; Joanna Dark, while the other is the bad guy; dataDyne Guards, Mr. Blondes, etc. The good guy is equipped with everything in the solo missions, but the bad guy has about half the life of the good guy, and also has about 3 or 4 times the ammo in their gun. The bad guy is also equipped with a suicide pill, so if you're too far away from the other player, just take the suicide pill to change to a character closer to the other player.
