News Archive - 2001

31/12/01 - HAPPY HOGMANAY EVERYONE!! (there, happy kt?) new photos up and running, slight technical problems with the soundclips.... See you all next year (hopefully @ Zanzibar)

28/12/01 - After a few days rest over Christmas (Rob got his new guitar and amp, Oli got a new pedal thingy and Dave bought himself a big-fuck-off amp as promised) we go back to rehearsing. Worked on one new song, Reign Supreme, and then ran through our whole set. Lex needs to get his arse into gear, there are tons of photos to upload, and some soundclips from Rag Rock, watch this space...

19/12/01 - So that was Rag Rock... Our second proper gig in less than a week, infront of about 150 people. It was awful and we sounded pretty dire. We were all nervous as we could actually see the crowd and we weren't helped by Oliver's guitar detuning itself half way through Maunder!! On the positive side it is fair to say that we played Gigantic better than we ever have before. An independant review will appear on the REVIEW page shortly, the set list is available HERE.

15/12/01 - So that was the Cabaret... Our first proper perfomance in front of around 300 people. It was fun, the buzz was amazing and the best part was we couldn't see the audience as we had lights shining straight in our eyes. As for the perfomance itself, its fair to say that our soundcheck went better, but a few technical hitches aside, we sounded pretty good. An independant review will appear on the REVIEW page shortly, the set list is available HERE.

11/12/01 - Wow, 4 days til The Cabaret, are you nervous yet? Saw BRML play at The Cartoon last night, they were, well, umm, ok? Liam showed of his great fashion sense in a "PDA Rock my socks" t-shirt! As for us, rehearsed this evening, decided on set list for Rag Rock and played all the way through it. Sounding good, looking good (as always), feeling good, i think... So The Cabaret on Saturday night, can't wait, and we're now ready to rock some serious socks at Rag Rock

3/12/01 - So, site all updated, Rob sent out a newsletter, if you didn't get it, you shoulda been on the mailing list (see the homepage for details)... As for today, well, Lex had his cast taken off, messy business involving a circular saw, but thankfully nothing went wrong and he can walk again! hooray! Rehearsed in the evening (without Rob) everything went generally ok, Bohemian Like You is sounding good, Goldfinger is perfect, just about ready for Rag Rock now (tickets still available)

2/12/01 - A weekend of work on the website, a fan forum is now up and running, we added some polls and I'm uploading photos later.... promise

30/11/01 - We went to school with a mission to find and destroy Rob Carey (organiser of Rag Rock) and then call him a "titwank". It was a success and we are now in Rag Rock! Happy days!

29/11/01 - Get to school and it seems we're not in Rag Rock - our band fails to appear on the posters. Band rehearsal in the afternoon at Olivers house, running through songs old and new! Plus taking lots of crazy photos.

15/11/01 - Find out we've made it to the Cabaret! Wow, our first proper gig... Now we just have to work our collective arse off to make sure we're ready for all December will bring us

13/11/01 - Rehearsal sans Dave, who was at the Muse gig. Struggled to write some music for a couple sets of lyrics Dave and Lex have written. Plus points, Lex played drums (without bass) showing that he hasn't lost his touch, if he ever had a touch...

10/11/01 - New site launched, plans for next few weeks include rehearsals (without drums - Lex still plastered and Liam a little pissed off with us) and song writing as we need ten great songs in a row for Rag RockBugger

5/11/01 - Oh the fireworksFirst semi-public performance in front of about 30 people, some of which we don't know very well. Audition goes well, Dave doesn't fuck up but the judges look, well, bemused by "God!". Positive comments include "you have a very good voice" and "wow, you didn't sound as crap as I thought you would".

30/10/01 - Last rehearsal before audition, sounding good, Liam knows what he's doing, or rather everyone else knows what Liam's doing, we decide on Maunder and God! Show Me Magic for the audition.

26/10/01 - Mini gig to a few close friends, despite absence of Lex (he sits in a corner looking left out and forlorn) band sounds good with stand in Liam (thanks mate).

20/10/01 - Liam Hamblin of BRML fame steps in and volunteers his services as drummer for the next couple weeks.

19/10/01 - Lex "fractures fibula" in freak drinking accident despite not being "that drunk". He's plastered for 6 weeks and everyone says "fuck" as it looks like all our plans for Cabaret and Rag Rock are disappearing down drains/out windows.
