PCS History: The Story Behind

PATEROS CATHOLIC SCHOOL is the first non-stock, non- profit co-educational sectarian school established in Pateros, Rizal. When Msgr. Felix G. Sicat founded it on June 1, 1951, it was known as Pateros Catholic High School because it offered only secondary courses with vocational subjects. It was incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 4, 1954, then received recognition from the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) on June1, 1955. Subsequently, when the Grade School Department opened in 1961, the name of the school was changed to Pateros Catholic School (PCS).
As a parochial school under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Manila, Pateros Catholic School is a member of the Manila Archdiocesan and Parochial Schools Association (MAPSA). It is also a member of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP).

The school has chosen San Roque and Sta. Marta as its patron saints. San Roque exemplifies a way of life of humility, generosity and determination to help others. Sta Marta is a model of humble faithful service. Both provide constant inspiration for the members of the PCS academic community.

Since its establishment in 1951, PCS has served the local Church and community of Pateros by providing quality and excellent Catholic education. To date, it has produced graduate representing all strata of society, the great majority coming from low socio-economic group. It has remained faithful to its commitment to serve the educational needs of the increasing population of youth from the areas of Pateros, Pasig, Taguig and Fort Bonifacio.
In the exercise of its functions and mandated tasks as a Catholic institution, PCS is guided by its Vision-Mission-Goals through the constant recognition and practice of the corresponding core values specified therein.

On a positive note, PATEROS CATHOLIC SCHOOL hopes to achieve an accreditation status in all its academic programs within a span of five (5) years from the year 2000 onwards.
