Marshall's Review of the
Sharp (Radio Shack) EL-6996c

Page Two of Five

The EL-6996c (Radio Shack calls it the RS-29) has some attractive features.

I am seeking a replacement for my Sharp OZ-770, which has been discontinued, and which now sells for extremely high prices on EBay. Therefore I will compare the Radio Shack RS-29 (Sharp EL-6996c) to the OZ-770.

Here is a photo of the EL-6996c next to an OZ-770, and you can see that the EL-6996c is about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the OZ-770. Also, the EL-6996c is just a trifle broader. It is thinner and lighter than the OZ-770. The size is quite comfortable. It is easy to carry in a pocket or purse.

I really like the keyboard of the EL-6996c. It is smaller, but still quite useable. When a key is pressed, it makes a pleasing "beep" noise. The keyboard is pretty good for data entry; the keys are smaller, but are similar to the rubber keys of the OZ-770 in feel. Here is a photo comparing the size of the keyboard with the OZ-770 keyboard.
