My GoType keyboardHi! I have pastored Presbyterian churches for almost 30 years. When I entered the ministry, I knew very little about being organized. My purpose in this little website is to share what I have learned about using my Palm VIIx, and Palm applications that I have found helpful (and entertaining).

PS: The info below is a little dated, in that I have moved up to a Palm model M500, which accepts mm and sd memory cards. Read about that HERE. But read the rest below too!

The Palm VIIx runs on the Palm Operating System 3.5. (This is slightly outdated, but therefore inexpensive, and still runs most Palm apps.) The Palm VIIx has a gray-scale screen, and eight megabytes of memory, which I find spacious. All of my Bibles, ebooks, programs, memos, address book and so on take up about six megabytes, leaving another two megabytes for sermons, letters and articles I intend to write. Because the screen is gray-scale, battery life is quite long (weeks or months). The Palm VIIx is powered by two AAA batteries.

Palm folding keyboard with VIIxI have both a Palm folding keyboard, and a "GoType" keyboard. The photo at left shows the Palm keyboard with the VIIx attached. (I prefer the Palm over the GoType, as the GoType is slightly undersized, and more difficult to type with. Also, the closed GoType is larger than the folded Palm keyboard.) Together they make up a very light, portable, mini word processor, with extremely long battery life. (The Palm VIIx uses two AAA batteries, which are easy to find. Rechargeable AAA batteries are available, too.) I can easily take it anywhere I go, and type letters, write sermons, and so on. If I wear a sport jacket, the keyboard can fit in one pocket, and the Palm in the other. I bought everything on EBay, and the cost of the entire outfit: Palm VIIx and GoType keyboard (shipping was free) was only $69.00. I found the Palm keyboard on EBay for $15, including shipping.
