No preservation could be complete without a collaboration between the Blues artists and their fans. A time of new ventures and efforts. Blues festivals. Blues recordings. A great time for the Blues?
Unfortunately, for one Blues giant this would not reign true. After a concert up north, Stevie Ray Vaughan boarded a plane that would end his life in a crash. A tragic loss, as Vaughan was leading yet another revival. The sky truly cried that day.
But, Blues was strong then. The House of Blues would rise all over the USA. Several Blues artists recorded music. John Lee Hooker recorded "The Healer" which would win a Grammy Award. Buddy Guy's club, Legends, in Chicago opened. It's still there.
One of music's great artists began to stray away from rock and return to the Blues. Eric Clapton began to put out Blues albums. Robert Johnson's box set appeared. More Grammies. A new locale would emerge, New Orleans. But was New Orleans really new? Of course, not.
