      Child Development Standards

 

 

Description of the course:  Integrate knowledge, skills, and practices required for careers in early 
childhood education and services.  This course studies the physical, emotional, social,
and intellectual development of children from birth through six years of age.  Labs involve 
working with a preschool and/or kindergarten class.  Creating documents with word processing, 
designing a PowerPoint presentation, and Internet research are a few examples of computer 
technologies, which will be incorporated.  This course will benefit those considering careers
in Education, Nursing, Counseling, Child Care and for anyone planning to be a parent someday.
Common Core of Knowledge: Career/Vocational Education, Applied Technology, Applied
Academics:  Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, and Health and Safety.
Common Core of Skills: Problem Solving, Interpersonal Communications, Keyboarding  
and Computer Applications, Critical Thinking and Life Skills.
