Remember me with laughter
For that is how I will
remember you all
If you can only remember me
with tears,
Don’t remember me at all
The greatest gift given to
us by our parents was a strong relationship with family. We grew up with cousins that are more like
brothers and sisters. Mom had a special
something that we could never quite put our finger on that drew people to
her. We are so grateful that she did
because our lives were so enriched because of it. We lost a mother of the flesh; most of the
people in this room lost a mother in spirit.
She had infinite patience and always had a ready ear to listen to
anyone. Our house was a revolving door
of family and friends all year long, but mostly in the summer with kids from
all parts of the family there.
Mom never met a cookbook or
recipe she did not like. She could cook
pancit, a Pilipino dish, with the best of them.
We were forced to eat some of the worst things because of her
adventurous spirit.
Frog legs still make us
shudder.
Most discussions took place
in the kitchen - whether they were grades, girlfriends, or
complaints of feeding animals in 32
degree weather.
Mom grew up in the city with
a country girl heart. She couldn’t wait
to get to the country to have a garden to piddle around in. Unfortunately, that green thumb did not get
passed on to all of her children.
Her favorite flowers were
daisies.
Her favorite music was from
the Sound of Music—which explains the music you are heard at her funeral. Mom made it known that this was what she
wanted.
She wanted to be remembered
with life, love, and laughter.
Mom…We will miss you, but we
will remember and love you forever!
