These fox moaw are found only in the northern mountains, and then only inhabit cold, rocky terrain therein. They are rumored to be one of the protector races of Val Griffon. They are thought to be an off-shoot of the standard Anser race, only adapted to cold environments. There are two general element affinities in the species: cryic and voltaic. Their fur appears a light lavendar/grey color when they are young, blending with the cold stones of their preferred den-grounds. The undercoat reddens and deepens with adulthood, turning the coat darker as they grow large and agile enough to deter would-be predators. Most sionne are maroon with a silver or blue-grey tick, though a few have been noted to retain the blue-gray fur color when adults. Sionne generally avoid contact with outsiders, that is, individuals not native to their environment, and humans as a general rulethey are shy and reclusive. Sionne are intelligent and have their own, fluid language which other moaw sharing their environment seem to understand (such as the kifa wolf, the kriewolves, bayyo, falconi, frigidae, draklings and dragons, lepi-da, erinacci, kokot, and shadow horse). With work, they can also speak human tongues; it has only been in the past decade that they have started companioning themselves with humans. The very first was a sionne named Timber who saved the life of a young Jr. Ranger from Laurel, Makzin Taylor, by telling the attacking ashwolf pack that the human boy was no threat to their territory or their pupsthe ashwolf even listen to the wisdom of the sionne, simply because the sionne are so powerful (socially speaking) in the natural system. Even dragons hold the sionne in high regard. The sionne are thought to be forces of nature embodied, like avatars present to bring peace and good balance to naturethough they are thought to also assist in keeping humans out of the Wild Forest and out of Val Griffon. They are all neutral-good in alignment, and are wanderers more than not, within the bounds of the mountains.
