Bannering on the theme, "The Role of Women in Global Peace Efforts," the PAUW-Camarines Sur Chapter sponsored the Regional Oratorical Contest last February 22, 2002 at the Seminar Hall, University of Nueva Caceres.

Twelve female collegiate students from tertiary universities in the Bicol Region participated in the contest. The University of Northeastern Philippines, Iriga City, bagged this year's championship trophy. Winners in the contest are: Roan Michelle Villar, first place, University of Northeastern Philippines; Jeanette Dematera, second place, University of Nueva Caceres; and Lea Louella Suñaz, third place, Mariner's Polytechnic Colleges.

The regional oratorical contest is an annual activity of the PAUW-Camarines Sur Chapter which aims to promote critical awareness on issues concerning women as well as develop talents of collegiate students in the field of public speaking and forensics.
