1. September 1982, I saw tv a lot of people crowded in front of Hang Lung Bank. After a few days,I heard radio that the government saved the bank. I did not understand what was happening but it happened.
2. June 6, 1985, the closure of Overseas Trust Bank OTB, left. I was in College. At that time I was in Diocease Center, I remembered Father Lok told me that The Bishop was trying to save the owner of Overseas Trust Bank. Soon news report that the government saved the bank but jailed the owner.

3. 1992, there were rumours that BCCI had problem, on Saturday the Finance Secretary said on media that the bank was safe.
The
next Monday morning the bank closed. People rallied on Nathan
Road, burning the paper Finance Secretary, they blamed him lied could
not withdraw on Saturday.
The Finance Secretary worse news, unlike Hang Lung, OTB, BCCI was not a HK based bank, not the responsibility of HK government. Many lost hundreds of thousand, sorry, not HK based !
