King Fahad Mosque near 13th Street downtown Dammam. This mosque is relatively new, having been constructed in the mid 1990s. The trend in Saudi seems to be to give the name of the reigning monarch to major new buildings and infrastructure. Other examples in the Eastern Province include the King Fahad Causeway and King Fahad International airport.

The Dammam gold soukh is located on the street to the right.

A Saudi friend tells me that prior to the construction of the mosque, this square was used for the public execution of criminals.
