High, innit?!
This is the view from the main observation tower, looking down the strip. Where the street curves round to the left is where the main block of casinos is, and you can just see Paris's Eiffel Tower recreation. You can also get some scope for why it was so hot. It is in the middle of the desert.
We actually got quite a deal on going up the tower. It was about $12 to go up the tower and go on the rides at the top (you sit on a seat and get shot up even further!), but due to 'inclement weather', the rides were closed, so we were allowed to go back up later in the day, using the same ticket. This let us go up the tower and see the view in the day and in the dark. (Whereas normally you would have to buy 2 tickets, or wait around for ages, to do this). What's more, the rides were still closed, so we got a full refund. So two trips up the tower cost us nothing! (OK, we didn't get to go on the ride, but I doubt it would have been that great anyway, and besides, we had been to 6 Flags before this, so it wouldn't have compared anyway)
