This is a log cabin bird house in someone's back yard. Paulie saw it on our way to Burnt Bridge Creek Discovery Trail. It is kinda cute!
Here we are at the beginning of the Discovery Trail close to Paulie's home. There are three sections going to Levrich Park, cut in three by a major freeway and a main street. It follows Burnt Bridge Creek, which is a long river going through much of Vancouver. There are still plans to extend the trail the opposite direction, east of Paulie's home in the next couple years. This is the neatest place for walking and enjoying the natural settings in Vancouver. I wish it had not been raining and Paulie had not had to keep me inside her bag (except for quick photos) so I would not get wet today.
I am leaning by a bush so I could be in this photo. Paulie thought the rushing water looked kinda neat. I do too! She was very careful to not put me too close. She could never explain "losing me" to my buddy in California!
All over Washington, these plants grow wild. They have delicious blackberries on them in the summer! Some people think they are a nuisance because they sprawl all over the place. Paulie says if you trim them, they don't take over your yard. The best part is finding a place where no one else goes to get free berries all summer. I am getting hungry!
I liked the Pussywillows along the trail so I just had to get my photo near one! Paulie says they have been blossoming for a couple weeks now.
Behind me is Burnt Bridge Creek where the water forms a little falls under the bridge that is nice to view. I am posing on the bridge so I don't fall into the water!
The water from Burnt Bridge Creek flows fast in some places -- Paulie enjoys the moving water. I enjoy being in another photo!
These seed pods are quite nice in a flower arrangement but this trail is supposed to be "left as it is found" so Paulie could not pick any to put in a vase.
This Cherry Tree is in a yard near the end of the trail before a freeway to the side of the trail and a street that we crossed to get abck to where the trail begins again. The pink blossoms are a sure sign of Spring "around the corner" and the definite fate of a snowless winter here.
This is part of the path on the "Discovery Trail." Paulie says it is wide enough for bicycles, walkers, joggers and strollers to all use at the same time and enjoy it. This part is in Levrich Park at the end of our journey today.
The trail has several places where the path crosses over Burnt Bridge Creek. This one is in Leverich Park, at the end of our hike today.
Here I am on the big tree trunk. Paulie wanted to take a picture of the trail and park with the freeway in the background to show you how close it was to the trail. It started raining very hard so we left the park and hurried a few blocks south to 4th Plain where we caught a bus home. I like riding C-Tran. I think I need a raincoat if we go out again!
