Scenes from 2000

Men from the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church get together to place roof trusses on Sue Wright's barn.

"Bambi" investigates the garden for something good to eat.

Farmer Gerald Hull from Johnson Hollow cuts our hay each year.

Red Falls on Route 23 near Prattsville, NY is the favorite swimming hole.

Paul and Joyce cool off.

2000 was the year for the road in front of the house to get it's first ever coating of tar and gravel.

A truck backs over the freshly tarred road and covers it with a layer of gravel.

Then another truck drags a rig over it to spread the gravel evenly.

2000 was also the year to do something about the broken down stone wall along the road.

I'd say this wall is too crooked.

Cousin Phil is a stone mason.

The final result has received many compliments.

After getting flooded out, the Gilboa UMC was relocated on top of a hill.

Joyce said "what we need is a goat to eat these weeds." So for two weeks, we borrowed Sue Wright's Blackie and Sandy. What an experience that was!

Part of the barn and celler cleaning was to get a used tools dealer in to take what we won't need.

Michael and Andrew joined us for Roxbury's Kirkside festival.

The state was very interested in seeing if there were any trout in our stream so they could instituite measures to protect them. Fortunately, only minnows were found.

When even the goats weren't enough, we had to hire Stanley Thorington to brush hog some areas.

Church dinners open to the public always draw an enthusiastic and hungry crowd including our neighbors Ray Weinum and Bob Gotch.

Behind the scenes in the church kitchen - Chris and Don Mowers keep the food coming.

Berries and pears, but no apples this year.

The 1941 Ford 9N tractor takes a trip to the local vocational high school for maintenance to get it to run.
