Pictures From the Pitt
(Pics):
The
block... where to begin. A block of contrast and unity. Carson has a
little bit of everything--which is what makes it the place to be. If you
took the whole hood of Southwest Detroit, and compressed it to one block, you'd
get Carson.
The good
and the bad... the progress and the struggles. It's all on Carson: Blacks,
whites, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Hondurans, Arabs, 1st generation, 2nd
generation, and probably anything else you can think of. Dope, drugs, and guns.
Unemployed, blue collar, and white collar workers. Broken homes and fully
functional families--houses with 1 person and apartments with 15. Dealers,
prostitutes, and fiends. Students, taggers, and gangs. Social
workers, teachers, and counselors. Abandoned homes, burnt homes, vacant
lots and homes brand new from the inside out. Cars from the 60's to
2002--mint and totaled.
And the location... we have our pick of places to do our
banking, go to church, eat tacos, moo goo gai pan, grits, pizza, or chili dogs,
buy groceries, furniture, liquor, gas, clothes, mix tapes, anything stolen and
anything that ever cost $1, rent a movie, pay our bills, develop pics,
get our haircut, and do our laundry all within one block! The ultimate
hood experience... welcome to Southwest Detroit, Carson.
Get a feel for the block... browse through Pictures from the
Pitt and brush up on your Carson Chronology and watch for updates.
This is Who We Be.
