2000 is making a name for itself quick. There are already characteristics of the decade that set it distinctly apart from it's parents. The ethnic composition of the street is showing a new face--Mexicans have become the majority and blacks have been better represented than in recent years. |
| The renter-owner ratio is improving... people are buying houses and paying more than ever for a home on Carson. Values have risen from an average of $15,000-$25,000 to good luck finding a home under $60,000 for a single family--there are a handful at $90,000+. Now the block is seeing home improvements-- new siding, roofs, and porches pepper the block. Abandoned and burnt homes are almost extinct and the wounded structures are making way for fenced-in yards. Families are becoming ... kids playing out front with parents sitting on the porch watching and visiting with the parents next door doing the same. |
Pics of home improvements coming soon! |

The Carson Apts. have recently wrestled with a bout of fires that seems to be the demise of the building. If so, this will change the block forever... | |
