The Sea Responds
Dreams
where mankind believes
they can challenge
my power
the sea
I'm eternal
deep and cold
in the northern realms
where I sit watching
these impressive ships
mere toys to me
race between
Europe and America
I really don't mind
their statements
even felt pride that
I could lend a hand
without the many storms
to challenge their might
crystal blue waters
rather refreshing
and impressive
with floating mountains
made of ice
with their roots
stretching deep into
the heart of my being
don't ever believe
that I'm tranquil
storms race across
my surface faster
than anything else
oh but one can see
the many ships
that I've collected
over the centuries
but most of them
these shipwrecks
were not of my doing
man's vanity and pride
contributed to most of them
including a grand lady
called the Titanic
she'mine
with all of her secrets
except what I choose
to release
these tidbits so
highly prized on land
what price will be paid
when all is said and done
hidden realities finding
the light of day
and a simple collision
just a relatively small bump
sank the mightiest of ships
only because their dreams
turned slightly tarnished
in the reality it met
poor material
poor workmanship
and lots of vanity
proved deadly
in my own way
I grieved over the lost
of innocent lives
I didn't wish
for this to happen
I'm eternal
I'm the sea
