THE REUNION
I sit here just thinking
of just what time holds
it seems while my eyes were blinking
the class of 1980 grew old
But where are we and why
are we gathered here today
why gather under a bluer sky
for some it is a sadder sky
Ten years has gone by
since graduation day long ago
surely a moment that lasts
deep down in our dreams
A reunion a time to remember
but just what: the hopes we held
dreams of a better day
old friendships we held
For here old friendships are rekindled
perhaps forever or like a brief candle's flame
we flicker in the light of the moment
that passes forever in the rush of time
Memories are born in a second
to last as long as we wish
but forever is not really a long time
just a second in the blink of eternity
