longingLONGING

I look at you Donna
and I know
in my secret heart
what love is all about

and I feel the
pain of separation
as I wait eagerly
for the next time
I can visit you

so I can look
at you and know
in my heart that
I belong with you
that I am not
alone in this world
and yet in
a way I'm enslaved
by the passion
that I hold for you

I know that
were not officially
boyfriend and girlfriend
just two very
good friends
but somehow it
just doesn't feel
that way to me

it feels more
like genuine love
don't tell me
that I'm wrong

I know you care
the way your eyes
shine when you're
with me smiling
as you catch sight of me

the way you look
at me content
just with my
company not with
who I am

we talk through
our senses

telling
each other with
just a glance the
deepness of the love
we feel for each other
even what we
haven't put into words

the things we're
both afraid to
mention because
it might pass
into our dreams

an unfulfilled longing
to haunt our lonely nights

I need you totally
to hold me when
I'm scared and lonely
when I feel defeated

all I have to do
is to see you Donna
and that love
you hold for me
and the sun rises
a new day begins
as I'm reborn
into your presence

my bright star
in this dark world
that makes up
my existence
