Legacy: July 25, 1993
Growth, maturity
time continues its course
changing, refining
making a better whole
that's the river of the future
carrying me along
As time goes by
a new spirit holds me
a spirit called hope
for the better day
Hope to counter act
the problems I see
that are found in my poems
these are the times
that I live in
Why talk of this
in my legacy
for what ever I am
depends on my surroundings
and this time in history
I worry a lot
of purely personal things
but what effects my environment
also effects me
People need to open their eyes
to see the truth
all men are equal
no matter who or what they are
We cloak ourselves in illusions
we call them beliefs
and are justified in them
But only God justifies
while men crucifies
other men
We each hold prejudices
even I do
but we must get along
or the future is lost
What a terrible cost
for our beliefs
God created mankind
equal to each other
men or women
black or white
gay or straight
we are equal
we don't have the time
for fighting among ourselves
We think we rule
over all God's creation
we think this gives us
the right to destroy
the very world we live on
I know the time we live in
I know the tragedies
facing us every day
but we are leaving behind
a terrible legacy
for the next generation
This legacy of mine
covers everything
it expands or contracts
at will
I can't do it alone
I need a helpmate
that shares my concern
But don't ever think
I was talking about a wife
we are all linked together
we have to help each other
before it is too late
Time flows on to its end
and changing my concern
I might turn selfish
and not mention these concerns
but this legacy is not finished
because I still live
