MARY SHELLY'S FRANKENSTEIN BY PAUL DEFFENDALL

It's been so long
since Victor gave me life
an eternity it seems
of agony, of loneliness,
of not daring to show myself
outside of this arctic wasteland.

Like you I've read the book
it is nicely written
but hardly truthful.
Making me out to be the monster,
but I was the victim,
not Victor.

His pride, his arrogance
of thinking he was a god
to create life
what a foolish thing to do.

Like the jews
I am homeless,
alone in the world
they later found their homeland,
but I never will.
I suffer in my loneliness.

Justice is in the eyes
of a few misguided fools
who hold the power.
They called me a freak,
a hideous monster
not even trying to see
the inner beauty
that I carry in this
cursed shell.

I am only a symbol though
of mankind's hatred
towards his fellow beings.

Think of the blacks
in the southern United States
or the Palestinians in Israel.
Hilarious that,
the Jews complain of harassment
by the Arabs
but they're the ones who
deported four hundred Palestinians
to a deserted wasteland
to die forgotten.

I know how that feels
but I can never die.

The true ugliness lies inside the soul
the true monster is the hatred
mankind feels for mankind.

Even the Christians
and their unreasoning hatred
of the homosexuals
and trying to take their rights
the rights that all mankind share.

And what of the blacks
in the southern United States
who fought their discrimination
from their fellow Americans
the blacks who won their struggle
for uneven equality?
Are they helping the "GAYS"?

Here I sit in the frozen Arctic
looking at Victor's grave
I brought him here
as a fitting punishment
for his crimes:

the abandonment--
remember I was newly born,
did anybody get after Victor
for abandoning his baby--
for trying to kill me--
like did I ask to be created--

for reneging on his promises
to create a mate for me--
breaking promises, he was the
forerunner of the modern American politician.
He became my mate
to suffer with me the hatred.

And just what of the blacks
in the southern United States?

No, not yet
two more things I'll add.

Victor never admitted
of his wrong doing
even on his deathbed.
I showed him more decency
in burying him
than he ever showed me
during his life time.

And what of the Jews in Israel?
Their courts approved
of the government's outrageous actions.

JUSTICE IS SERVED.

And just what of the blacks
in the southern United States

I sit here alone, forgotten

and just what of the blacks

crying, unwelcomed anywhere

in the southern United States

called hideous

are they joining the gays

this eternal emptiness

in their fight for equality

doomed to live forever
no man deserves this fate

they're denying the gays help

Called Monster

Monster is discrimination

called monster

washing their hands of them
and the homosexual's plight

called monster by all I meet

and just what of the blacks
in the southern United States?

Just who is the true monster?
