The Phoenix Karate Club was established by Sensei Roy Taylor in 1996. Since its inception the club has maintained a high standard of training in both the technical and physical elements of karate. The club has a good mix of students from beginners through to senior grades with a varied range of abilities and ages. Many of the current students have progressed through the grades and now share their knowledge and experiences with the other students. The club also benefits from senior grades from other local BTKA clubs who also train at the Phoenix.
The club has an excellent training facilities with one of the training rooms having a mirrored wall to help improve kicks, punches and kata techniques. The other room has wall mounted punch bags and padded mats for practicing throws, pair work and free fighting (kumite).
Sensei Roy Taylor 4th Dan is the lead instructor who oversees all the training sessions and is ably supported but several senior grades.
