The car featured on the 1966 Green Hornet TV series started life out as a 1966 Chrysler Crown Imperial hardtop.
The Crown Imperial had the largest engine of its class with a massive V8 440 (@ 7.2 l) cci engine that had a max power of 350 hp at 4400 rpm. It was rated as having a maximum speed of 116 mph and of note to today's gas milage consciousness only got about 11mpg.
The 1966 Crown Imperial was a huge car with a 129 in wheelbase, an overall length of 227.8 in, a width of 80 in -- wide enough for a tall person to lay down across the back seat without bumping his head on the doors-- and a height of 55.8 in and a curb weight of around 5000 lbs. All in all a massive car that in one contemporay review was said to be so comfortable that you could get out of at the end of a cross-country trip feeling as fresh as when you first got in.
To compare the 66 Imperial to a modern car--- the 2002 Cadillac DeVille has a wheel base of 115 in, a length of 207 in, a width of 74.5 in and a curb weight of 3978 lbs. Obviously the 66 Imperial dwarfs the modern Cadillac.
