The Black Beauty then was primarily known for its speed and a buzzing horn which was partly responsible for the Green Hornet's name.  It had none of the weapons that we came to associate with the Black Beauty.

One episode - Polarized Glasses-of the radio series does mention the Green Hornet adding a polarized filter to the windshield so that the Green Hornet and Kato could see a secret signal transmitted using a polarized light.

The Black Beauty shown in the two movie serials of the 40's was a 12 cylinder 1937 LIncoln Zephyr.  There was little customizing done outside of some dressing up of the fender skirts.  The car was not equipped with any gadgets.

The Black Beauty originated with the Green Hornet radio series that began in the mid-30's. In the Harvey comic books of that era it was a black car of a decidedly odd design with a windshield that curved over the driver and passenger becoming part of the roof. In the Golden Age Black Beauty the
Green Hornet and Kato both rode in the front seat.
