| I DO NOT ASK |
| I do not ask that every dawn be radiant, Or constant sunshine fall across my way. But only that despite the clouds o'erspreading My faith may make today a sun-filled day. I do not ask great joy at every turning, Upon the path my feet have learned to tread, But only that I recognize the gladness That love today about my steps has spread. I do not ask that sometime I may enter some far-off Heaven whose countless ages roll. But only that in finding truth illuminated I gain a Heaven today within my soul. |
